piano or keyboard?

Ok...I've been playing keyboard for a year or two now..(i also play guitar, bass, drums and sing) but I've just started getting serious about keyboard/piano...and I was wondering..for the songwriting purposes and the fact that I have limited room..which would be a better idea..an upright piano or a nice keyboard?(if I got a keyboard id want one of those nice ones with the built in stand..probably around 700-1200 bucks)

As much as I want to say the Piano, for right now you might want to get a keyboard... it'd be easier to move around, there would be less space and it would have the variable volume control.

If you can, get an upright acoustic piano. For your purposes, an electric keyboard would certainly suffice. It'd be cheaper, most likely, and far more efficient space-wise, obviously. But in the long run, if you ever want to play the piano for the sake of playing the piano, you'll wish you had an acoustic piano rather than an electric keyboard. It depends how much you want to play it, and if you want to use it further than simply writing songs.

I'd never, ever, ever choose an electric keyboard over an acoustic piano.

Hi, I dont know if anyone can help me, but I am looking for one of the keyboards that are held like guitars. Do they still sell them, or where can I find anymore information on them.

My sister really wants one!!!

thanks in advance.

Ok smartarse, theres no need for that...we all knew what he was asking, so why take the piss?

And for the record, i much prefer acoustic pianos, but if you are short on space i understand peoples advice on the case for keyboards; either should serve you fine though if you are willing to spend as much on them like you said.

There IS a need for it or I wouldn't have said it, and that need is a hell of a lot more important than his tiresome question (which has already been asked here at least twenty times in the past month alone), just as the apostrophe (learn how to use it) and the English language are a hell of a lot more important than whatever meaning we may discern through the fog of your abuse of them above.

well i would say keyboard, yet again it depends on the type of songs you make, if you want to make extra arrangements with other instruments or if you want to make the sheet music out of a midi file, or collaborate with other musicians using a midi file ivia the internet, a keyboard connected to the pc is always necessary whether you decide to purchase a piano or not. A piano is a valuable thing for a lifetime

Ok ned, i apologize profusely for my misuse of apostrophes...but only if you apologize for your unneccesarily long sentence (maybe YOU should learn how to use full stops...oh and speak less bulls*** )

Anyway, enough of this petty argument, i'm off to play my 'keyboard instrument'...(which may or may not be a piano...there is a difference you know )

For your purposes, id get a keyboard, but if u wana make a piano sound, get an acoustic piano. Keyboards will never make a piano sound as well as a real piano, but u will b beta using a keyboard

A Stage Piano

Stage Pianos sound and feel exactly like an acoustic piano, and they have many other superb instruments built in. They are also very light and portable.

drums? o_0

But I'd say keyboard. If you can't plug it in, what's the point?

keyboards save a lot more space, but personally, I am more comfortable with a piano. I am guessing that space is more important in your case, so I'd say go with the keyboard.
