howcome all the musical people dont like sports?

my friends are all into music and such, and i am too, a lot. so i decide to go out for the school football team. it was a 3 day tryout, and i said what the hell, ill do it. so i go for the last 20 minutes of the 3rd tryout, and make the team. so now im like oh, ****. i did this for fun, and they think im serious. then my friends started making fun of me and liked me less just because i like to play football (and i wasnt one of those serious...EAT..SLEEP...WAKEUP..GAMETIME...WOO WOO *bark bark bark* kind of obsessed guys). so they started calling me a jock, and said "oh hes too cool for us". oh well, the main point of this thread is why are all the musical people against sports/people who play sports? (or some of the musical people at least)

i played in the school band and played in the school rugby team at the same time, so in conclusion, not all musical people dont like sports.

For the most part these things take up time.

It takes time to practice and instrument just as it takes time to practice a sport.

Some music people are to preoccupied with music to bother with sports and vice-versa. Finding a medium between the two is the trick.

I've had to split my sports and Music in half... well, its more like 3:1... Music is more important, and involves more practice.

i like music more but i used to be a super sports fan. its coming back some. just multitask. you dont need to look at your guitar to play it so watch the game while you play

most people that are into music try to morf into the genre that they prefer and take on the labels and rules that supposedly come along with liking that type of music.

Thats what i hated the most about american schools...its a friggin caste system, why does it matter what i like or what i listen to or what i dress like? its sooo superficial... anyways ep is right, you gotta find a balance between the two...personally i like to workout regularly and play bball once in awhile, but my main goal is music and thats where i invest most of my time and energy.

Well, i don't have a problem with the two either, and i am glad i don't live in america if the suprficial-ness is that bad. I cop it enough down here in Australia for listening to bands like Opeth, Dream Theater, Pantera and soilwork. But i also represent the city for cricket. I play guitar in 2 different bands as well. I really don't see a clash with sports and music

I don't like sport because I'm lazy.

I do think that there is something about the usual type of people who really really like music that makes them adverse to sport though. I'm not sure what it is but a lot of the sporty people aren't musically orientated and alot of the musical people aren't sport orientated.

Way to stereotype people who make music.

Well, if you want to know my reason for not liking sports is because I think they are stupid. That's just me though. I didn't mean that people who like sports are stupid, I just see no point in them. I don't really have a problem with them though.
