appeal system would certainly cut out a lot of diving

Maybe, but I quite enjoy those games where the ref is making all the decisions against you and you get worked up and then you win - it's very satisfying

But really...doesn't cheating in sport trouble you ?
In many sports you can get heavily sanctioned for obvious cheating, even lifetime bans so why is it just brushed off in football as part of the game ?
the thing about "cheating" is that playing on the edge of the rules is part of the game. it's more clear cut in rugby than in football, so i'll use an example from that sport. if a player deliberately infringes to concede a 3 point penalty, has he cheated or merely applied the laws? it's not always clear cut and i think a lot of the time it comes down to subjective ideas about whether it's in the spirit of the game. the same applies in football, at least for some stuff that might be considered "cheating"

a post match review system for dives and stuff though might be possible. i dont like the idea of in game reviews.

what bothers me about a lot of the diving issues is that it's used so often as a jingoistic criticism..

gerrard is one of the worst divers in the league, rooney too, but it rarely gets mentioned.

it's in no way a new thing, it's just part of the game. don't see why it needs particular legislative attention when bad tackling is just as much an infringement of the rules and can actually cause harm.

take henderson's tackle on sunday for instance. definitely a foul; straight sending off. no complaints. whereas diving, there are always complaints. and plus bad tackling can just be mistimed challenges or too much passion leading to you to be over zealous. diving is just making the most of a situation to get an advantage, nothing else.

diving is essentially harmless, there are far worse forms of 'cheating' which should be looked at

I was counting on city beating Everton but on those performances it's hard to pick. Pool are clear at the top, right? Or does Chelsea have a game in hand

liverpool are two points clear of chelsea but those teams still have to play eachother so whoever wins that will probably win now. but sunderland now have to play chelsea so they might single handedly mess it all up ha.

crazy results tonight wow

"gerrard is one of the worst divers in the league, rooney too, but it rarely gets mentioned"

absolutely, the media never get on that though, was a similar thing with scholes, when he did a dangerous tackle he was apparently passionate and hard working whereas someone like vinnie jones was a dirty bastard

What are your views on this ? If there is any sort of contact do you think the player should go down ?

The sort of thing Suarez did against Man C makes me sick really and they should get straight reds imo for cheating (let alone he was on a 2nd yellow and should have walked anyway). Gerrard has done quite a few too even though he decries the practice in interviews.

But what about the borderline cases where the player could use any sort of contact to go down very easily ?
professionals paid millions to win football matches doing everything they can to get ahead and win makes you sick

football disasters were dozens of people lost their lives including young children - don't give a shit

i love your perspective pal

If City come third, where does that leave Pellegrini? More investment and a better squad than Mancini and worse results.

fired. he has the best squad and should have won the league.*

they're the best paid sports team in the world, they should win more than the league cup.

they need a manager who can consistently beat sunderland.

*that's on the proviso that they slump into third, if they challenge up to the last round he'll probably be ok
