J. Cheese is the bassist (and occassional guitarist) in the band TISM.
Check out his brilliance in songs like 'Russia', 'Aussiemandias', 'I'm into Led Zep', 'Choose bad Smack', 'Come back DJ, your record is scratched' and 'Anarchy means crossing when it says don't walk'. In my opinion he is amazing; not exactly the fastest bassist (or with the best technique), but his bass work is innovative and well executed. His playing works to emphasize the existing music, highlight the lows and highs of riff, and he doesn't try to upstage the other band members like many bass players today. He holds back a lot, something many new bassists aren't taught enough of (the sound of silence, ask V.Wooten). Anyway, he's great. Just thought I should have a bit of a rant about someone who has influenced me in every aspect of my music endeavours. |

Hmm, I probably should've mentioned that you can check out TISM at http://www.tism.com.au
And you can check out those songs I mentioned by hopping on Audio Galaxy, or Napster, or whatever the hell it is you kids are using these days. |
