Has anyone ever played a Bernie Rico Jr. guitar? A Hellion, specifically.

Or perhaps a guitar from one of these dealers:

I have a hot rod deluxe 40w 1x12, the cleans are amaazinnnggg on it. Not enough bottom end for me, especially with my dist. pedal in it. but, with 2x12 I'm sure it'll be fine. I don't use mine that much anymore... seing as I bought a new amp. It is very nice though, cheap too.

The guitarist in my band has that in halfstack form. Sucks horribly when you turn it up. Its so harsh and thin. You'd be better off with a smaller tube combo, trust me.

Classic will work good... I have one, and it sounds perfect through a cranked tube amp with lots of fuzz. Strat of course.

I have had one for a little over a month now.

The amp has that retro/vintage look and the cabinet appears to be well made. It weights in at about 70 lbs. The control layout is visually appealing and is in a logical order.

In terms of sound, I am very disappointed. The clean channel is extremely bright and thin. With the tone controls set for a balanced sound (this means turning the treble down and the bass all the way up) it is very ordinary, but usable.

The OD channel is an entirely different animal. It is a waste of good electricity. Major ice pick harsh on top of being thin and bright. Unfortunately no amount of knob tweaking helps.

After playing the amp for about 25 to 30 hours, I opted for a tube swap. It ended up costing me a little over $200 for complete sets of JJ-Tesla's and Tung-Sols preamp and power amp tubes. I replaced the rectifier with a JJ as well. There has been some significant improvement on the clean channel but the OD channel is still unusable, unless of course the sound you are after is some variation of harsh, thin, and bright. If so, you have just found your soul mate!

This amp qualifies as one of the bigger failures for Gibson since their Digital Guitar and the opening of their hollowbody plant in Memphis. Definitely qualifies for a big ...

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

Okay, i'm thinking of buying a new guitar, my first one, a cheap Les Paul copy that i've had for years has finally run it's course, and no longer works, while my brother took his Strat, which played great, to Uni. I had my eye on a Squier Telecaster Custom (the one with the Les Paul style tone/volume switches and the double humbuckers) and i was wondering how it plays and feels. The LP was too heavy for my liking, and wasn't very comfortable. I was wondering how this Tele compares to an LP, is it heavy and bulky, does play like a Strat, with a nice smooth neck, etc.

Thanks for any help.

I'm thinking about buying a Schecter Damien FR, i'd like to know what others thought about it. Preferably someone who owns or has played it.
