And I'll throw this out there - Stamkos coming to the center of the hockey universe would make him rival Crosby's popularity.

star players dont want to play in toronto because of the popularity

stammer's got it good, franchise player going to hit his prime as all these young guys start coming into their own, stevy y at the helm to fill in the gaps, and living in florida

i was gonna get a legit tb away jersey and get j dro to sign it but slacked off, gonna regret that

Ya but Stamkos knows the Toronto market, grew up a diehard Leafs fan, and had his contract with tampa duration end when he's ufa age. He knows that he could go from a obscure-ish expansion team to, quite frankly, being a god in the center of the hockey universe.

Kessel is a shy Star Player. He's playing in Toronto. But I agree with you in a sense that Toronto needs a spotlight craving type of player to sign. But Kessel isn't really marketable. If one of the most marketable nhl players played for that Forbes #26 hockey market it would benefit the whole league.

bolts will sign him to a long extension next summer prob

i hate to burst your bubble i think stamkos in toronto would be dope i just dont see it happenan

toronto needs to rebuild like everyone else and get a star through the draft but itll never happen because they have money to blow and pressure to do so

That could definitely happen. I'm just trying to get some pre jelly going. I'm use to disappointment but the hype train has already started and it can't stop, not in Toronto.

I'm a big supporter of tanknation, I hope we do shit the next couple of years and draft high... so we can have a team ready for Stamkos to lead

i get the idea that phil kessel's dream job was being the guy at a college frat kegger who's frankly too old to be there

he just fucked it all up by being very talented at hockey

the difference between vancouver and toronto is that vancouver is okay with tanking i.e. they understand hockey

lmfao a leafs fan mocking another team's success

yeah it's called tanking

maybe they should acquire a passable young starter like bernier so they can thrive in mediocrity for another decade

wheres your proof that tanking is a viable tactic? youre ignoring the fact that 'tanking' is a trendy, flimsy new concept that wasn't even talked about 10-15 years ago. show me a team who has tanked and as a result been successful

and dont say pittsburgh because they simply stumbled upon crosby

see: the reciprocation of success in the league (not including the mediocrity-loving, overpaying maple leafs)

10 years ago, worst teams in the league, chicago, blues, kings

today, best teams in the league,

Guys let's focus on how the Toronto Media/market has started indirect tampering.

Me and my friend's are just tweeting to Stamko #cominghome.

Malleus if you have twitter I suggest you do the same. We need to get the train going full speed.

the oilers / islanders / coyotes / sabres / panthers havent seemed to benefit much from dwelling at the bottom of the standings for years on end. the truth of the matter is that the 'tanking' concept is just a scapegoat to cover up all the bad decisions a team such as vancouver makes.

theoretically the oilers should be getting much better as they were given every opportunity to do so, whens the last time the leafs had a top draft pick

islanders and panthers don't have enough money and support from their city to complete a rebuild, does not mean they haven't gone that way, whens the last time the leafs had a stamkos or barkov or ekblad or or or

also the panthers and sabres have easily the two best prospect pools in the league at the moment so hold your breath for the moment plz

edit tavares not stamkos obvi

Guys 2 year tank till Stamkos comes.

Get a top end center prospect and a dman. Then Stamkos will lead this team to the cup.

Lol. prospects take years upon years to develop. its not very often you draft a guy whos ready to step in and make in impact in the same season. in fact i have no idea when the leafs last did that. another horrible pick this year too

this draft was a good example

as shit as it was the difference between picking in the top 5 and picking at 8 was huge (or so it seems at this point)

anyways just feel bad for you guys and wish t.o. would do a rebuild, would be cool if they actually drafted their own superstar in the next 5 years

Don't feel bad for us man we live in a great hockey town man and have some decent pieces.

I legit feel bad for you. Live in the middle of nowhere and have to bangwagon the fairweatha pens. I could bangwagon Detroit or something but I like being a part of something you'll never understand. You are Canadian and don't get to experience one of the best parts of being Canadian.

You don't seem to understand that we are half of the hockey world. We pay to keep other franchises afloat, like your pens the two times they almost bankrupt cause they didn't have any bankable stars.

If you ever see a leafs away game there are lots of leafs jersey in every arena. Leafsnation never sleeps.

You aren't jelly cause you are basically not Canadian.

Lol I hope Clarkson plays top 6 mins for #tanknation.

I think he can be effective in 2 years playing on the 3rd line when Stammer comes home. That 5.25 will be more like a 4 mill cap hit when #stamkostothesix happens.

It's Lupul, who has the same cap hit, that I want gone.
