Mesa F50 Tube Upgrade

Hi there,

Looking to change my Stock Mesa F50 tubes to something new.

Can anyone give me some recommendations on what to get in both the preamp and power tube sections?

Not really able to try them out, so just looking for opinions on what has worked well with other Mesa or F50 users.

Are all JJ tubes good? Looking for a high gain metal tone, with clarity and no mud!!

Thanks!

Bit of a minefield really, you never get the same opinion twice when it comes to valves. best thing you can do (if you can afford it) is scan the reviews and pick a few close to what you're hoping to achieve. Then of course make sure you get them set up right and biased.

While I'm guessing you're in the US, I've found Watford valves to be a good source of info and have purchased many a valve from them myself.

JJ's are great, very common choice for metal players.

I've bought from here for years
