No chemistry between the characters and even tho they can all act so some degree, it's just a bunch of posturing. Travolta is the only one who puts up a dec performance. The film does start to gel somewhat at the end. Thank God I didn't see this in theatres like I planned.
My thought exactly - except I made the mistake of paying for it.

Been meaning to rewatch this for some time afta I got to talk to the director at Tiff. Great action film with just the perfect amount of corn. The whole "let's take some martial artist and shot n samurai film with matrix aesthetics in the forest gets me going. Looking forward to Ryu revisiting it in a Jap sequel or an US remake.

Joe, I really don't blame you for paying. Stone doing a cartel movie with an ensamble cast seems really good at face value.

Argo - 7/10

Not as great as I'd hoped but then I went into it knowing very little about it, besides the fact every reviewer loved it.

Bronson - 9/10

Man-crush on Tom Hardy..

How could you have seen this and not even make mention of Benicio Del Toro?

i payed, too. saw the whole cast on charlie rose. saw a few other things. terms like "classic" and "must see" and "oscars all around: were bantered about. i like stone a lot so i got in line

i liked it. i live out in la and appreciated the photography and local vibe. it looked good, and the bud was righteous. its really just a weed movie

take it as it comes

========================

oh, and i saw Prometheus. its a ridley scoot film set in space with an alien like story and a different plot. i am almost certain the stories / idea might be linked somehow because the alien life forms in the film operate much the same way. acid for blood, pods, etc

its a search for the creator, our "engineers, " and a few passengers on the trillion dollar space mission have agendas of there own which unfold during the film and surprise no one in the audience

i am knocking one point off for the "i guess thats why i am a human being and you are a robot" line at the end of the film. dumb, preachy shit

6/10

totally dumb, and featuring all the characters you've played in the mass effect series. "Hey I'm a scientist with no imperative to address myself as such, watch me deliver eye-rolling layman dialogue"

finished watching band of brothers as hbo re-ran all ten episodes for remembrance day weekend. nice to see something steven spielberg did that isn't dripping with sentimentality. all the actors were pretty good, except there were a lot of background characters and not a lot of stand-outs, except for the obvious ron livingston, damien lewis, kirk acevedo, etc. also cool to see young michael fassbender and tom hardy.

I wouldnt mind re-watching Band Of Brothers. The Pacific was also p good and your correct about Speilberg avoiding his usual sentimental horseshit (war horse).
