I don't really want anymore gear though. I have been trying to sell off the things I no longer use. Ive gotten to a point where I know exactly what I like for whatever instrument I'm playing, be it drums, guitar, keyboard ect. I need to get rid of a lot of stuff I collected and keep from the allure of gear acquisition syndrome!
Yeah I've been pairing down pretty well now. But I do want two setups so I can have one in cases for gigging, and one setup at any time. I got nearly all on ebay at great prices, so I doubt I'd ever be able to replace things if I sold them.

I have some synths and stuff to sell yet though.

No doubt

If you have something hard to get it's always best to hang onto it. I have alot of generic items I wouldn't miss to clear up some space. I wouldn't sell off a rarity thats for sure

i have some stuff i could probably sell, but it's likely not worth that much on the open market, and i don't need the money that badly

Had a hell of a show friday night.

It was a crazy hot, humid night, and the venue is a small bar with a really small crowded stage. The bar was pretty full and we were sweating bullets before we even got to the stage. By the end of the first song I was raining.

The guitarists both got their guitars set up and restrung the day before, and each of them had strings break. Apparently they were sweating so much that the strings got soaked and then saw some parts dried out and got brittle.

To top it all off, our bassist got into some poison ivy or something and looked a lot like Freddy Kreuger.

I guess that's what you get for booking a show on Friday the 13th.

Jon Lord just died. This fucking sucks.

And what sucks more, I just bought an amp for my sound system, but no wires or player yet, so I can't blast his music, or any music for that matter

I have the opposite problem. Massive PA, enough wires for the both of us and more, mixer, decent CD Player, crossover, but no amp...

Once in a great while you get a decent group of people who can really play

Well, from today until Wednesday after next, I will be hanging the drums up. Family is coming down and in order to make room, drums have to be packed up. This sucks lol.

Do you guys count in your head as you play, or do you jsut sort of 'feel
the time?

I've always done the latter but I'm realizing that counting would help me become a tighter drummer and more able to stay in time and play around the beat. I feel like this skill would something important to work on from the very start of drumming, which I haven't done. I'm pretty sure I know how to practice this, but how would you guys practice this skill?

I play stiff if I am being overly alert/counting to whatever time & tempo is playing. Feel the 1's no matter what, even if you are playing very complex time signatures and figures. Being aware of where the 1 falls is the key.

Spent so many years actually counting, that it's instinctive now. As is feeling the 4, 8 and 16 bar phrases.

I'll break things down when I am learning them if that is a sticky point.

Like Jeff said it's all about knowing where the 1 is and instinctively relying on that.
