more to the proportion of land dedicated to agriculture, wilderness level, stuff like that

how much displacement from a large city has a bearing on the rurality of the area obviously varies significantly

eh...I agree with some of those things but I think ruralness definitely has to do with distance from larger bodies of people in most cases.

ruralness is not all about distance although it can be a factor

urban and rural are based on the amount of people living within an area, why are you talking about number of trees or buildings?

I can go to WORLD FAMOUS NYC whenever I have enough money to afford a bus ticket there and back

that city hosts the world's most important stock exchange (among many other great distinctions) and is so diverse it has meetup groups that cater to my interests, like OCaml

now Smokey on the other hand lives in a sort of famous city and can reach some somewhat more famous cities ... by flight

and I guess he has ... relatively easy access to ladyboys and smog-infested hellholes too

gotta give him that!

Completely different question bro. Living fuckknowswhere is not inconsistent with living an hour or two from a world famous city.

Although I'm willing to concede New Zealand is basically a giant farm.

Also, ipsa*
