I have minor quips with Shanahan now and then, but the real story IMO is that i don't think it's a good thing we hear about him so often. Basically, the NHL's EXTREMELY subjective (this has even been admitted to by Shanahan and co.) suspension rulings have had a hand in most of the seri (?) being played at the moment; something about that feels wrong.

Can't argue about the level of competition, or the parity really, but I'm personally just not sold on the parity idea.

I think it is a good way to develop a fanbase in markets where they didn't previously exist, like Nashville, but I think it sort of waters down the rest of the league in some ways. I think you would be a Pens fan no matter how well they were playing, and aren't you sick of hearing of people attributing your team's success to your 5 or so top 5 picks?

Idk, I think there is a certain excitement when people beat teams like the Wings or the Yanks, and parity erases that to some degree.
