Favorite drum solo
Hey all. New here, so I thought I'd start off with an easy fun topic.
Any favorite drum solos? Genre/album/live sets, any are fine. I'll start off with Bonzo's Montreau, cause you can never get enough Led Zeppelin and that solo is off the hook awesome. Thoughts? |

I really don't like John Bonham's drumming, let's kick off the thread with some controversy and drama, anybody feel my opinion on this?

I used to think he was overrated as hell, but I've been liking him a lot more and more the past couple of years.
Still think he's inferior to many of his contemporaries though. Since I just watched the DVD again and its fresh in my memory, Ginger Baker's Toad solo from the Cream reunion is pretty awesome. Yes, its nowhere near as "awesome" has during his prime in the 60s, but its a great length (about half the length as the original version), it has a great flow to it, very dynamic and song like like, and never feels like it drags. |

Wait... am I not the newest member anymore?
Personally I just can't get enough of Steve Jordan. He's not a particularly flashy drummer, but when he lets loose it's just awesome. There was a video on youtube of him soloing at a JM trio concert that I watched over and over for a while, I'll try to find it again. |

Barrymore Barlow on Jethro Tulls live Bursting Out = Conundrum
He was far ahead of his time, and still the best improviser/chance taking drummer ive ever heard in a live situation. |
