So i'm pretty psyched. My buddy has been writing a bunch of songs and was looking to get a band together to play live shows. He asked me to play drums for it. We have had a few jams and it is starting to sound amazing. He recorded all his songs and had a bunch of CD's made and we are playing a CD release show on December 22nd. So psyched.

Check out some of the tunes...

Just about any 2-legged hat stand is probably exactly what you want. Baseplate and velcro is where the hat party is at.

Thanks dude. I've already decided on 2-legged. Any specific DD models you can think of?

I haven't tried them all, but I went with the PDP one. It's cheaper than the rest, and it's plenty solid.

I have a PDP hi-hat stand as well and i'm happy with it.

White: That hi-hat stand is over $250, i doubt that's even remotely worth the price.

There's no real-world difference between the PDP and the DW9K.

The reason I got rid of my Big Dog pedals is because they all moved, squeaked, and made clicking noises.

This isn't like "Oh, the 9Ks have polished ballbearings and nicer fonts on the footplates", this is "My pedals are clicking and moving and squeaking which is completely unacceptable in the studio. My engineer is having a hard time gating the offending noises. I need equipment that does the job properly, at a reasonable price. No bullshit."

Yo Jezen, you're a Gavin Harrison/Porcupine Tree fan right?

What do you think of The Incident?

Price isn't an issue; I want a stand that I won't have to replace for ten years.

I really dig it actually. A few of my friends had their doubts in the beginning, but this album sounds like they've combined their dirty heavy synth groove elements like the beginning of 'Sleep Together' from FOABP, and some Deadwing/In Absentia even-feeling odd-meter passages, and consolidated it in to something that sounds a bit more like 'Stupid Dream'.

I'm a fan.

idk the 9Ks are quality stands. Never had any issues with mine.
I wouldn't buy them without the chance to try them out first, but tbh I thought it was worth the money. So smooth.

Is there a direct-drive version of them?

I am too. The first couple times i listened to it i had some doubts. Luckily i started really getting into it right before i saw them live and of course their show was incredible. One thing i really like about it is how it sounds; i'm always amazed by steven wilson's mixes.

I've got tickets to see them live in Newcastle on the 8th next month. Hoorah! Same place as I saw them live the first time, just after they released FOABP.

You're in for a treat, The Incident live is amazing.

Who the hell mixed the Doors albums? This is the first time i've really listened to them and nearly all the songs have the drums 100% left.
