Potential moral choices :(

Hey all, I have a quick question?

I recently bought this http://www.dv247.com/invt/48681/, and an in general very happy with it, save for a few potentially minor things.
Acoustically it plays great, I love how it feels and the greyed chrome is awesome, and I like how it sits when playing. When its plugged in the problems start....

I hate the pickups. They're horrendous. In fact, all the electronics are a bit naff really, and I want to swap them out (already got some bought, but they can go in a different project if I change my mind). And possibly move the selector switch to a more Les Paul-y position but thats more for preference.

Now, normally I wouldn't have any problem modding it myself, in fact its the only guitar i have thats not modded in some way, but when I bought it the guy said it was a new addition to Ibanez, and now all of a sudden its discontinued everywhere. Thats the first pic I could find with the bigsby on it!

So what do you guys reckon? Sod it all, and change it to how I want it, or leave it 'pure' and unmodded on the off-chance?

Cheers
~Ben

I'd still swap out the pickups, you can always keep the old ones and reinstall them later.

The switch, though, I'm not sure about. It's a fine looking instrument but the switch is in a really STUPID place, especially considering the bigsby arm hovering over it. But once you've switched pickups you might not need to use it so much so you could leave it where it is

Thanks all for the help. Think I'm definitely gonna swap out the pickups, 99% sure.

Got some sweeeeeet Gibson P94's coming for it , used them before in the neck of a Les Paul and loved the sound I could get from them.
Think I'll pass on the EMG's, never really been a fan of their sound

Will put off modding the switch for now despite the daft placing of it I think, for if i ever come to sell it, but if the pickup change is as good as I'm hoping, I doubt it'll come to that.

If I like it enough, I may go the full way and move the switch. And to stop there being a random hole where it used to be, I could just stick in a small kill switch or something.

passive EMG´s are pretty cool. (hate the active ones too) but I would NEVER put them in a guitar like that! P94´s are cool if you like the single-coil sound. not my preference though. although I can´t argue the fact that gibson makes awesome pickups. (I´ve replaced the EMG´s in my ESP with a 500t and a 496r. all gibson stuff)
