cimar strat pot/pup/earthwire help (lost 2 pups)
hi;
in an order to individualise my strat copy i pulled it apart and drew a design and laquered over it. when dismantling i was as careful as i could be with the electronics but now have 2 pups gone (no signal). i get the nice woody neck one alright but the other 2 seem to have gone to live with baby jesus. i've checked and everything seems wired up okay. anybody got a wiring diagramme but not a schematic as i'm slysdexic with those things (awww come on .. it was a joke already *a thousand dyslexic people hamn me to dell!*) seriously ... i did electronics at school (more like they did me) and i can't read 'em so a diagram with real representations would be a groove (several actaully). i love 'elvira' (yeah..i named her after the song by the oakridge boys) and she sounds great and feels great to play. if i don't get help here i guess i'll just have to make all the pickups idependant which will make it better than standard but be a pain (you know, on/off, vol, tone for each pup so all three can be on at once which you can't do with a standard 5 way) cheers p.s. when i have a shirt off and a sweat up (ewww....) the string holes zap me a little. i'm wondering if this is connected...and there's a lot of earth leak noise. now the earth wire from the bridge to the pups is connected to the bridge and the other end came off so i put it back on a random pup. i'm wondering if there's a connection or if it's a separate problem. any light on the subject would be greatly appreciated. |

Can you get any close up pics of the wiring and all that?
As far as the ground to the bridge, it usually isn't just connected to a pup. That ground usually is connected to the volume pot, or whichever, to complete the ground, since your pots are usually the common place to ground. |
