I know this will be classed as necrophilia for bumping such an old thread but was hoping you guys could help me with a few dumb questions.
So first of, what should I be looking for when I buy a new head and cabinet? I'm hoping to get a band together in the next half a year and do some practising and if things go well, do some gigs. I'm going to be playing metal, like Chimaira for example - I watched a video on Rob Arnold's (their guitarist) setup and he said he has a Peavey 6505+ Head and a Mesa Cab. How do I know what to look for exactly in these sorts of things, are there certain things that I can see that would identify in something being better? I'd feel a bit dumb buying it, for someone to ask me "So what made you buy that" for me to reply "A guitarist I like has it".
Leading on from that, do head and cabs just work together or do certain heads only work with certain cabs and if so; how do I find this out?
