Not a bad idea, if you can find more people. It's always good to keep your options open and to get as much practice as you can.
At 16, nobody's serious about anything...your brain's just not wired yet for true, serious commitments, even if you think you'll be with your girlfriend 4 EVR. Based upon your attempts so far, it seems you might be an exception...which is good. Stick with it...get better. Find more people to play with who ARE serious. If your friends grow up and decide they want to get serious, then you always have that as well.
Most of the bands that make it today didn't start as garage bands with 16 year olds.
