It has been an extremely long time since I have entered one of these.
- Amelia for a night, then the Amalfi –
Burgundy is so beautiful in the spring time
Sitting here, this night, enjoying this sipping wine.
Do you miss the Mediterranean as I do?
Of course, dearest Amelia.
I shall inherit the sea once more.
It was sunset over the villa
And she was so beautiful draped in white silk.
The only light was the glare off the ocean
And the only flaw was knowing it wouldn’t last.
[It couldn’t last…]
I was downtown when I saw her next;
At that cozy café down on Tenth Street.
[Oh, how charming those baristas can be.]
She looked so comfortable
As her eyes pirouetted around the conversation,
Eager for a[nother] lover to save her.
If only my fingers spoke in thespian tongues…
If only my voice could echo octaves of songbirds…
If only my lips could taste a thrush like her…
Perhaps I should just let her be.
For we’ll always have the Amalfi.
