Frederick "Toots" Hibert, backed up by Nathaniel "Jerry" Mathias and Raleigh Gordon is a singing legend. Toots and The Maytals started their musical career at a very young age during the 60's. They started by doing ska songs with heavy, almost gospel like style of singing. The put out many songs along those lines, until Toots was arrested in '66 for possession of ganja for 18 months (during this time Jerry and Raleigh didn't bother looking for another singer, cause they knew it wouldn't be the same without toots) After he was freed, the three went to Leslie Kong to record more music. Slowly during this time, reggae was being created and they decided to join the movement and create some reggae song example: "Do The Reggay."
