Like others have said, kick the guitarist out and find a new one. Unless you don't like the other people either. In that case, just find a new one.
I'm having to kick my drummer out of my band at the moment. He's a decent drummer, but he always slacks off and instead of coming to practice he goes off with his girlfriend. We plan a practice, and instead of planning his other stuff around that, he ways "well, if nothing else comes up, then I'll come." And, usually other things come up. Lately, when he does show up to practice, he's unlively and downtrodden. He loves playing shows, but refuses to practice...
And, you know when a person can leave his instrument at someone else's house for over a month and not go insane, you're not dealing with a person with enough musical drive to be in a band. He's left his drums at my house for over a month. At first, it was just for a few days...and they're taking up space in my house and he obviously isn't passionate enough about his instrument to be in a band at all.
