Punk forum literature thread
Name some good books/magazines that you would recommend anyone to read...
Political Books;
o A Reason To Be Cheerful - Mark Steel's book on politics from the 70's to today, Quite an interesting and amusing book, Deals with serious issues whilst remaining witty.
o Viva La Revolution - Another book by Mark Steel about the french Revolution, Again very witty and intelligent, I have only read half of it as the library robbed it back and fined me, bastards!
o Animal Farm - George Orwells finest work in my opinion, Political fable using Animals to represent the Russian Revolution, Well worth a read.
Other Books;
o 144 Picadilly Street - Samuel Fuller's amusing book about a group of people from contrasting cultures all crammed in the same squat in constant threat from the old bill, Hippies, Skinheads, Rockers and a Journalist. Check it out!
o Human Punk - John King's book that follows the antics of a young punk who witnesses the death of a freind of his, trecks accross russia and so forth, Quite an intreaging book, worth a read.
Magazines;
o Private Eye - Politically based magazine for the uk, available in most decent Newsagents although it is sometimes a pain in the arse to get, Comes out monthly!
o Organize - Anarchist Federations magazine for the uk, i beleave it can be shipped to america, Usually comes out around 3 times a year. If you want to know more about it, check out the Anarchist Federations website
