Well, you might have a point about ASIO4ALL, though in reality that's more of a driver compatibility wrapper than audio software in the strictest sense.
As for Chainer, there are actual FREE variations of the same idea available, if you check out my "Utility" VST list, you'll notice I included CTAF MultiFX.
Another good one is by Acon Multimedia (also available as DX/DXi, for those who aren't using VST-operable software).
