If you just screwed a metal plate on the top of the fretboard ( where the hig notes are) wouldnt it act as a top fret or something? and buzz against it.
I'd say cut a bit out your fretboard. But im only a kid, go to a repair man and ask him. dont get him to do it, tdo it yourself, save you some money lol.
