Jazz or not, I've always hated Frisell's timbre, and as I said several times in the "Rhythm of Hendrix" thread, Jimmy Page's tone quality is poor. I said specifically, in fact, that his tone quality on "Stairway to Heaven" is poor. I don't know about the recording, but, in concert, however, he was using a double-necked guitar on this tune (during that tour). It certainly was not a standard Telecaster. I've never heard of Bickert and Gatton. If they routinely use Telecasters, I probably don't
want to hear of them. As for Jeff Beck, you'd better be more specific.
