Hi there. After 2+ years of the same thread, it's time to move onward and upward.

If you are reporting a problem (e.g. a problem user, a problematic bug, you're unsure of how to figure something out), please be specific. You can do this by hyperlinking and briefly explaining what we're looking for that's an issue. If you're reporting a site hiccup (e.g. something looks funny to you), please take a screenshot and post it here. The more evidence/stuff we can look at, the better it is so that we can help you.

Please use the Report Post feature on the reviews site so that we can easily investigate/take care of any presenting issues quickly and anonymously.

If you have a question about the site, we'd be happy to answer it -- think of us as having an open-door policy (generally) or that one Boondock Saints quote about 7-11.

If you're requesting something (name change, a review/list to be featured, a review to be flagged), you are welcome to do so. However, please be advised of the following:

1. Staff, Emeritus, and contributor reviews take precedence over any user review (unless there are extremely mitigating circumstances);

2a. We generally don't mind if you ask for your reviews to be featured, just make sure that they are a) new releases and b) reasonably proofread;

2b. Unless we're doing a theme and/or the site's main page gets upgraded to allow featuring of non-new releases, we currently do not feature non-new releases;

2c. We feature new releases the week of the album's physical release (thus, if there is a digital release months prior to the physical release, you can't necessarily double-dip, although we will fracture this rule on occasion). Even if there's a legitimate stream to the record six days in advance, we will not feature the review until the beginning of the week. Albums that are 1-2 weeks old still have the possibly of being featured, though, so hooray!

3. Flagging a review means making a review the default one when the album is clicked on the artist page (see Item #1 for the hierarchy). It is considered to be in poor taste and a violation of Interwebs law to repeatedly ask for your reviews to be flagged, especially when you're prone to not proofread your reviews. In other words, if your review has a total of 2 views (and I'm that second view) and I spot multiple errors in your review in less than a few seconds, consider yourself blacklisted indefinitely;

4. Feel free to make suggestions for how you'd improve the site here, especially if things feel stale. 2013 is supposedly the year for significant changes that have been requested over the years (e.g. a genre/artist tagging system, a follow feature, updated search bar, etc.), and if they're implemented, it will be due to your suggestions. Again, consider this an open-door policy;

5. I prefer lists of five, but keep all unnecessary drama, theatrics, conversations, etc. out of this thread. You guys have shoutboxes -- use them! We'll have to ban you from the forums if you carry on here when you know you shouldn't be. And for the love of all that's sacred, use the edit button.

Thanks in advance.

On behalf of the meds,

Jom 02-22-2013 11:05 PM

Oh, and by the way:

Promotions for staffers and contributors will take place Monday, February 25th. I appreciate your patience as deliberations continue to take place.

i didn't know which thread to go to(!!!), but see now you shut the other one down (rip). so much is changing

Sanders 02-23-2013 05:27 AM

This will be my one and only non site-related comment in this thread, but

tommygun 02-23-2013 07:36 AM

i'm probably not the first person to mention this but clicking on a lot of review threads links to an empty page numbered one higher than the page with the last post on them

eg pink floyd dark side and the wall, atd-i relationship of command etc etc

any ideas what causes this glitch?

ihavehadaguystalkingmerecently 02-23-2013 07:45 AM

This user has posted three reviews today (this being the most recent), and because this user is Skele (as recorded in Atari's shoutbox, as well as several others (he also 5'd Fit For Rivals...)), it's safe to say he is more than familiar with the one review per day rule.

Punishment is in order.

EDIT: Make that four, he just posted another.

MysteriousNewUser 02-23-2013 07:51 AM

one, i only have one account right now. they are welcome to IP check.
two, there is no RULE abotu it, its just courtesy. The mods have said there is no rule about it.
stop being a bitch.

BTW, this thread will soon be overrun with Snox reporting people and generally bitching about stuff like his approval because snox is nothing more than a low life with nothing to do EXCEPT whinge.

"We feature new releases the week of the album's physical release"

Does this mean we're going to avoid featuring reviews for albums that came out 2-3 weeks ago? I was thinking of covering the latest Foals album, but if this is the case I likely won't bother.

mx 02-23-2013 10:11 AM

2 weeks is usually fine

Kris. 02-23-2013 10:44 AM

i request larger avatars

there are not enough good small ron swanson pictures on the internet :(

Kris. 02-23-2013 10:50 AM

also, i believe i just saw an ad at the top claiming that my flash was not working and i needed to update. looked like a virus site. might wanna look into that. if i see it again i'll screencap it.

anarchistfish 02-23-2013 10:50 AM

Upload it as a png and it comes out unblurred

I agree, how disruptive are larger avatars to the site? I dream of a site where we can all have this as our avs:

edit - has image embedding always been disabled in the meds thread?

anarchistfish 02-23-2013 11:37 AM

I'd rather have a small gif than a large png

but if everyone has them it doesn't make them as fun anymore

RosaParks 02-23-2013 12:02 PM

homophobic, among other things
barely even a review

MysteriousNewUser 02-23-2013 01:11 PM

Yeah Ive been a dick, can y'all take down the following review of mine please.

Kris. 02-23-2013 01:17 PM

Pixels and file size, 19.5 KB just isn't enough!!!!!!!

Necrotica 02-23-2013 03:51 PM

The first page of the new For the Meds thread is open and Skele adds a bitchy comment about trying to justify his poor reviewing skills and over-reviewing.

Yup, not surprised at all.

Kris. 02-23-2013 04:23 PM

it's to be expected really. i just don't understand how someone has this much free time. it's sad.

Havey 02-23-2013 05:54 PM

Lately I've been unable to edit the 'Favorite bands' section on my profile, and I know that I'm not the only one having this problem

I can click on the bar to change the text and all that, but when I hit 'Save', this is what happens:

Trebor. 02-23-2013 06:27 PM

^That exact same thing happened to me

GiaNXGX 02-23-2013 07:41 PM

Is there a way one can get a bigger profile picture with a higher resolution? I've been thinking on this for a while as users like Porch have jpeg images that show similarities with png's and don't become pixelized in the process of uploading them -so:

2010's sputnik-coding allowed this to happen?

Mods can change user profile pictures.

JohnXDoesn't 02-23-2013 07:45 PM

to whom it may concern

you know instead of stripping my emeritus privilege at the reviews site over my tongue in cheek news articles you could have simply asked me to tone it down, as i do know how to contribute otherwise and would like to unhampered and unrestrained

i have been contributing on and off since 2005 and was one of the first heavy contributors here that helped get the reviews site off the ground. i feel as if i deserved at least a little consideration in this regard, or at least a "tighten it up" before taking my posting privileges away

i was being a bit off hand and entertaining. for those who would read my news and find something of value in that. even humor. but, i guess not

oh well, congrats on all the new album releases posted. and concert dates. great "music news," there.

have a good one....

Thank you. We always appreciate positive feed back from the general userbase :D

Damn burn

Jade 02-23-2013 09:36 PM

You'll need to change that username to JohnXDidn't*

Ignimbrite 02-23-2013 09:43 PM

Are you guys able to give people GIF avatars? If so, would you be kind enough to make this my avatar?
