New Joey Jordison sticks being released

For lovers of all things Joey, ProMark are having a launch of his new sticks shortly and I thought some people on here may want to know about it.

Probably came to his senses :smash:

Little Android Man 04-27-2009 08:40 PM

i'm interested to try them out. maybe they'll be good who knows.

Mirror.Circuit 04-28-2009 12:32 AM

what size are they closest to?

Refl 04-28-2009 01:26 AM

they look very 5Bish to me

-TGP- 04-28-2009 01:46 AM

Hmm...

DrummerJonny 04-28-2009 04:23 AM

how does he play with hands like those??

:D

lewisniven 04-28-2009 04:41 AM

only ever used one pair of pro-mark sticks, and they tore my hands to shreds! never going near them again.

DrummerJonny 04-28-2009 04:51 AM

really? i love pro-mark. i can't seem to break em, no matter what i do, whereas a pair of VFs lasted me a month tops... better than zildjian, which lasted me half a song maybe?

Plan B. 04-28-2009 07:29 AM

he really needs a manicure!

BADUM CHING!

[[[[[ anyway i might check 'em out if they're Jap Oak, but they look like hickory to me. hopefully the surge in fanboys buying JJ's sticks cause promark to drop their prices for somreason, lol

Damo 04-28-2009 09:13 AM

Further info I received today from Pat Brown at ProMark.

For those asking what size they are….

They are a 5A diameter (.551” or 14mm), 16” long. Very similar to our Oak 777, but in hickory.

Round wood tip.

Little Android Man 04-28-2009 09:36 AM

so basically like a slightly longer 5A with JJs name slapped on. exciting.

bobby__johnny 04-28-2009 09:53 AM

what the **** is that?

-Obscurity- 04-28-2009 01:20 PM

Swine Flu, earthquakes in Mexico, and now this. This is surely a sign of the apocalypse.

Lewis, do you have an email address I can contact you on?

Only 5A? I would've expected something thicker tbh. Jordison fans will be in for a surprise if they're used to his Ahead sticks. I'd guess these new sticks are going to be even less durable than my normal pair, cause I use 5A oaks.

Seems odd... I've always been using pro-marks and my hands are as soft as a baby's buttocks. Not a single callous or anything. Are you sure you didn't just try sticks that were too large/small for your hand?

Drum Phil 04-29-2009 04:34 AM

The jordison aheads are actually already about that size. They're a lot smaller than a 5B

and yeah, they seem much rougher than Vic Firths, which i normally use. Used the Vic 5Bs for years now no probs, needed some sticks at band practice once so brought the only ones they had, Pro Mark 5B's, and it was hell. Theyre no where near as smooth as the vics;

That was after about 2 hours solid playing, I consider myself to have pretty good technique too.

DrummerJonny 04-29-2009 05:17 AM

well, my sticks never look like a used tampon, thats for sure....

iamjoe2 04-29-2009 04:40 PM

****, i looks you crucified Christ on those damn things

ROFLMAO!

I love pro-marks, but lately I've been palying with some vic firth jazz sticks (because they're light, thin and aren't as loud) so if I were to use my pro-mark 5Bs, my hands would cry for mercy. I am interested in the Jordison's stick since I've moved to 5As of late.

Fix'd

am i the only one throughly unimpressed with joey jordison, much less the sticks he uses? i'm sorry, but take away the double bass from the guy, and he seems like a 12 year old kid who's been playing for two years.

the guy's just weird to boot...

just about everyone on this board is a jordison/barker/ulrich hater.

Damo 04-30-2009 05:22 PM

Klekticist - Many of the most influental players in history were guys without a lot of technique.

Joey is marketable and thats why you see him everywhere in the drumming community. Whether hes deserving of such exposure is irrelevant. To be a good endorser you reall only need influence.

I give Lars alot of credit for Master/Justice. That stuff was done before quantization and other such forms of mega-editing existed, which is quite a feat.

Drum Phil 05-01-2009 05:28 PM

Damo has a point but yeah, most people don't have a high opinion of Jordison and his playing
