So I've pretty much finalised the design ...

I'ma waiting till after I've done my exam this saturday before I can really get stuck in though. I've been slowly gathering tools and books and stuff in the mean time |
thats pretty sweet, although i don't like how theres just one in lay when those inlays are usually designed to run all the way down
if it was like a unique inlay it'd be cool |
Thanks man
D'you think so? I dunno ... the offsetness of it compared to the direction of the rest of the guitar appealed. That said, I pondering just having dot inlays. And possibly a rounded headstock, or just a straight point |
nah, the headstock is one of the nicest designs ive seen for a V shape, personally i like dot inlays the best because they're just practical. I think they would suit that guitar too
|
i think some small dots to the side of the neck(the top basically) would suit this guitar, some company does it but i can't remember who so i can't show you a picture of what i mean
|
Along the side of the binding, leaving the fretboard face itself blank?
|
no, on the fretboard, but along the top of it when you view the guitar like it is in the picture
|
Ah right, I get you
|
Yeah, there's no option for that on the design program, and it'd take ages in paint. I see what you're saying though. I'm not too fond of that myself, I prefer the symmetry
lol I know mine's not exactly symmetrical, but the juxtaposition of the inlay to the design makes up for it |
oh
well i think normal dots would be best then imo |
This one's pretty cool :P
Edit: I' still having teh cutaways, but that's done on paint which takes a long time so ... |
yea that one looks pretty cool now
what parts are you having? wood, tuners, pickups, bridge etc |
Either Koa (in the picture) or mahogany body, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard
Humbucker: Either Dimebucker, Warpig, Nailbomb or Miracle Man Pup: Dunno |
yea Koa is a nice wood
how about some dimarzios for pickups? |
Schecter does them like that i believe all on the top of the fretboard.
|
nice nice nice man
|
teh guitar company you're thinkin about, is it gretsch?
|
Peon, do you mean offset dots?
Like on this: http://schecterguitars.com/spec.asp?id=103 If so, that's fairly common. |
i love that bass
|
Yeah, me too, that's why I was saving up for one, but then I met this luthier, so now I want a 7-string bass done....anyway I don't want to hijack his thread.
Maybe look at EMG's for pickups??? |
Dont have pickup rings, they're so tacky.
|
Im not usually a fan of pointy guitars, but that looks pretty awesome! :D
|
I like it, except I don't think the natural finish fits the flying V shape.
|
It looks pretty cool. Good luck with making that.
|
Top notch!
I'm not hot for the colour though. |
Isn't this meant to be in the BASS forum?
|
It's a shared subforum
|
Thanks for all the comments guys :)
EMGs I've decided to go for (more than likely) bare knuckle pickups partly for the variety really. I've been very impressed with the tones of the Miracle Man, and the nailbombs and warpigs have a brutality in tone that I rather like (plus the Warpig image pwns :D ), and they just seem like good alternatives that are pretty (relatively) unique. I'm after a personalised guitar, and to me at least, emgs are becoming too much of a norm to have a place in such a project. That said, I may well be proved wrong in the end (I intend to tinker with it once it's done). We'll see Pickups rings I like the pickup ring around the humbucker, but I'm not sure what you mean about them bieng tacky. The single coil doesn't really need one thanks to the black racing stripe, so that one will more than likely be ringless Thanks again for the comments  |
Very original
