What program do you use to record with?
I'm trying to record with Windows SoundRecorder but it doesnt seem to be working. Thoughts?
|
O god no. Never use SoundRecorder.
Get Audacity, its free. Or if your in a pirating mood, cubase, reason, and acid are good. |
Audacity is good. If you can, find someone who has a program and pirate it. That's how I got Adobe Audition. lol.
|
I had a thread from before that was quite successful in this area....hold on, ill find it.

Garage Band is good when you can figure out how to use it. Kinda annoying though.

i use Garage Band and Sound Studio.

Where can I find Audacity at? and what do I need to run my guitar to the computer, obviously some sort of adapter? Thanks for any help. I have been interested in recording myself for a while now.
Garage Band is only for macs, right?
well, for the most part. yes, it was developed by Mac, for Mac; but i believe if you buy Apple OS formatting software for your PC, it will run Garage Band. i think... |

all you really need is a 1/4" to 1/8" input adapter |

Make sure you get a stereo adaptor, not a mono one. Makes a big difference. |
Where do I plug into once I get the adaptor?

cool edit pro 2.1 FTW

Audacity is sufficient, if you've never used anything better. Beats the hell out of MS Sound Recorder, I'll give you that. But so would a dead mouse. For recording at the moment I'm mainly using Wavelab, then sequencing in Reason. Technically there are loads of reasons why I really shouldn't, especially since I have working copies of Cubase, Logic, and Acid Pro. But I love Reason's synthesis and audio processing system, and it lets me use them to their full. That's for home recording, for coursework and such I either use ProTools, or do it the good old fashioned way, with a reel of 2" tape, and not a computer in sight.
Make sure you get a stereo adaptor, not a mono one. Makes a big difference.
It really, really doesn't. Bass is a mono instrument. A select few effects might have a stereo element, but for the most part a stereo adaptor won't make a single difference for you. |
I use Audacity due to its freeness and the fact that I don't do a whole lot of recording.
|
Cool Edit Pro 2, and Adobe Audition.

Why both? They are pretty much the same thing, only Adobe Audition is newer. |
Logic Pro 7 and pro-tools, then iTunes to burn off the music if i need to.
