Mac look on my PC

Is there some kind of visual style or program I could DL to make me computer visually look like a Mac, effects and all? I basically just want the looks and the support of some form of widgets.

Look into Window Blinds and Object Dock Plus. Google; "Window Customization" you should come across a database site which has 1000's of skins, widgets and other stuff for windoes.

I did it once with Window Blinds.

Its effort though, and kills your RAM.

AA-12 05-02-2006 05:46 PM

Meh, I have 2 gigs of ram. It shouldn't hurt.

Kithkin 05-02-2006 05:56 PM

It may look like a mac, but it won't act like one:(

AA-12 05-02-2006 06:06 PM

I really should just buy one.

Why would you do something gay like that? :(

incubliss 05-02-2006 06:15 PM

So you're going to buy one because you want the look? Actually, look into the program Litestep. If anything, that'll have what you want.

Turtle Soup 05-02-2006 06:21 PM

It looks 100x better than windows. But the windows blinds one is fugly

PutsTheFunInFuneral 05-02-2006 06:45 PM

I have this thing called Aquadock. It's supposed to be like the Mac scrolling menu at the bottom of the screen, then just hide your taskbar.

note: I'm not saying macs look good

Ephemeral 05-02-2006 10:08 PM

Macs are for dummies.

: )

Kithkin 05-03-2006 02:02 AM

I have both. Macs are easier to use because they make sense, not because they're for idiots. Just because something is designed poorly doesn't make it better.

Even though my pc is quite a bit faster than my laptop, programs that I use on both run faster on the mac.

Kif 05-03-2006 10:07 AM

I have both as well, and I really don't see much difference. It's still the same principal of windows and folders and all that crap.

Get yahoo widgets. It's free and does a great job.

WindowBlinds latest version Im running uses only 3 MB of ram.

Although for mac menu thing, you need object dock too. So it'll probably take like 10-20 MB altogether.

Every Mac I've ever had the displeasure of using runs like a steaming, newly deposited turd :/

AA-12 05-03-2006 02:48 PM

With me it's the total opposite.

incubliss 05-03-2006 04:01 PM

If you were to get a Mac, get one of the new Intel based machines. They run XP now aswell. Best of both worlds.

I'm not trying to start a PC vs Mac war here, but I really dont see why people say that Macs are so much better than PC's. I've been using PC's for years and recently had to babysit my little cousin and his family has a Mac. I dinked around on it for a few hours and came to a conclusion that its nothing special at all.

The only times I've really truly had trouble with PC's is when there was a computer that my whole family shared. Ever since I built my own PC I hadn't had any major problems or annoyances.

If this is what you kind of have in mind, yahoo widgets is a great free place to start. So far as the theme itself I use StyleXP along with the items I get for it from ThemeXP. Although these aren't Apple/Mac themes. $20 to buy StyleXP, free to try. $10 for 1000 downloads from ThemeXP to work with StyleXP. And while it's not free, neither are the others in the versions you would need to completely trick your OS out visually:

For me, it's not one is better than the other. They are built for different purposes. PCs are built for general home use, office work (administration, data entry, etc) and programing - Macs are built for graphics. Without a doubt, every Graphic Design studio will be filled with Macs for the designers. As will any movie editing studio. They are each better than the other in different areas. People always start flaming whenever Macs are mentioned because the people who do it generaly have very little experience in using Macs. They maybe used them once or twice to see what they were like, and decided to stick to Windows. Which is fine because the things they will be doing with it will just be general computer use. I only really suggest a Mac to anyone who will be doing any form of design work, be it for screen, print, movie or whatever.
Having been using a Mac for a while now, I get really annoyed at PCs because they work differently to a Mac - it's the same for those who use PCs - they get annoyed at Macs because they work differently, they're not used to it, and end up "hating" Macs and their users, simply because they didn't take the time to use them properly and get used to them.

Each do their own, but I hate OS wars... I prefer OS X, but I do graphics. If I was a programer I wouldn't think of buying a Mac.

That went for a bit longer than I expected...
