yeah

Jetpack 01-09-2006 10:55 AM

word. i didn't want to post my piece in two different places and get yelled at by the songwriting gods(mods).... im still new and i dont want to be toe steppin around here.

Disco Donkey 01-10-2006 02:02 PM

Toe steppin' is for ballerinas.

Anywho, has anyone heard of the band Anberlin? I've just gotten into them recently and am wondering if I should pick up their new album or not. Any thoughts?

Disco Donkey 01-11-2006 03:50 PM

So would you suggest shelling out $12 for it?

Another one I've been wondering about is this guy named Aaron Sprinkle. I went to purevolume and heard the song "Really Something," which is the only one he has posted. Anyone else have any info on him?

Disco Donkey 01-12-2006 12:03 PM

Alright, maybe I'll just download it off the internet instead. I usually try to stay away from doing that unless I think the band might suck.

So, when's this thread closing?

Disco Donkey 01-12-2006 03:16 PM

Probably sometime around Sunday.

Bigbadbob 01-12-2006 05:19 PM

" I got the hots for the sluts in the well thumbed pages of a magazine".

Wish I could write like Pete
Probably sometime around Sunday.
Monday you mean.

Disco Donkey 01-13-2006 11:51 AM

Whatever.

Jetpack 01-13-2006 12:14 PM

word so come monday we just post them in order of our choices?

not including us right?

Disco Donkey 01-13-2006 12:24 PM

A separate voting thread will be made where you rank each song and then preferably give a small critique along with it. And no, you don't include yourself.

ATC 01-13-2006 10:28 PM

We're doing a cover of The Cranberries' Zombie for our demo for CBC and by gum, it kicks all ass. I'm so happy. And so forth.

'kay, wednesday.

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 01-14-2006 10:11 PM

Better modern day melodic hardcore/screamo - esque (**** genres) redone cover

White Wedding - Billy Idol

or

Radar Love - Golden Earring

ATC 01-15-2006 03:18 PM

Melodic hardcore sucks, imo. As does hardcore.

Littlejohn 01-15-2006 03:47 PM

Oh wow you're right. Your opinion just completely changed what music he likes. :thumb:
Oh wow you're right. Your opinion just completely changed what music he likes. :thumb:
I wasn't even trying to change his opinion. I only said that because I presume he was referring to my claim that my cover is better than an original and I think that turning things into melo-hardcore often reduces their original beauty.

Your opinion just ceased to matter since you take things out of context. :thumb:

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 01-15-2006 06:00 PM

maybe we could all calm down and stop the attacks. All i was saying is that i am currently doing vocals for a melodic hardcore/metalcore blah blah blah band, and we are deciding what to do a rendition of, not attempting to do better than the original, but to compliment it by putting our own spin on it. I was just wonder which one you think would cross over better to the genre.

Littlejohn 01-15-2006 06:06 PM

Well, I'm a bit on edge today. Scene kids have gotten under my skin as of recently.

Scene Kid - "What type of music are you guys doing for Battle of the Bands?"

Me - "I'm not very good at classifying genres..."

SK - "So does it sound like Comeback Kid or Norma Jean?"

Me - "...neither?"

SK - "OH, well you guys must blow."

ITRIEDVOODOOONCE 01-15-2006 06:21 PM

Agreed, but then again its not a crime to like the music, im not scene, but i like anything that doesnt sound generic.

ATC 01-15-2006 08:09 PM

Apologies for earlier, LittleJohn.
Voodoo,I'm not familiar with either song but good luck with those. I'd go with Radar Love because that sounds like it has crossover potential and sounds very un-metalcore-ish which probably means it'll be a more interesting cover. idk.

I played in a couple hardcore bands for a few months because I liked the energy but the music never did do it for me and I couldn't help the guys with the songwriting cos of it.

Jetpack 01-16-2006 09:51 AM

atc... you've never heard white wedding by billy idol???

Anyways in my opinion, the radar love song would be better, only because i think its such a kick *** song and a wicked bass line. but the idol song would def be sweet to redo

deathscreamingsheep 01-16-2006 02:10 PM

White Wedding was redone very badly by the Murderdolls I believe.

Anyway, as White Wedding suits the harsh vocals of hardcore/metalcore/whatever a bit more I say go with the other one.

pixiesfanyo 01-16-2006 04:40 PM

I think this takes the gold for being the worst Replies thread of LC history.

SubtleDagger 01-16-2006 05:29 PM

We just made two pages?

What the hell?
