In the mainstream I agree. They do actually say that Ashlee Simpson is "punk". They also claim that MCR is "emo". Some people in it though, at least in Canada, know what they're talking about. I've heard them talk about Melodic Hardcore and Metalcore and such before. It mostly depends who it is that's describing the artist.

Ya but that is on MTV when they Ashlee Simpson punk and they think what they are talking about because they are "Music Television" but that is total bull crap and they are full of crap. We don't have MTV, we get MuchMusic. And it completely depends on who the VJ is. Some VJs are awesome and really know what they're talking about. Some are just stupid and only made it in because of looks. I'm not complaining though :).
