Pop Punk Awards 2005 Nominations, baby!

The Pop Punk Awards ceremony is gracing the forums again, pulling out all the bigstops with over-the-top settings, a new maroon carpet since red carpets are so 2004, and host P Diddy because he has too much time on his hands once he put down the mic. No, this isn't an MTV-endorsed publicity stunt/awards show...

The Pop Punk Awards are a bunch of awards (Really?) given to musicians and bands for their performances in the year. The catagories and rules are below:

RULES:
- One nomination per member.
- Members must fill out the entire group of catagories, or their nominations will be void (Such an awesome word)
- Nominations will be collected a week today (7th November), so don't feel in a hurry. Once nominations are in, I'll sort them out into polls which will be weekly. So "Best Album" will be one week's poll, "Best EP" will be another's, and so fourth.

CATAGORIES:
Best Album:
Best EP:
Best Song:
Best Live Band:
Best New Band:
Best Overall Musicianship:
Best Band of 2005:

GUIDELINES FOR CATAGORIES - READ NOW BITCHES!
- To qualify for "Best Album", a band/musician must've released an album in 2005.
- To qualify for "Best EP", a band/musician must've released an EP in 2005.
- To qualify for "Best Song", a band/musician must've released a song via album, EP or Internet in 2005.
- To qualify for "Best Live Band", a band/musician must've played on tour in 2005.
- To qualify for "Best New Band", a band/musician must've released their debut album (Not EP) in 2005.
- To qualify for "Best Overall Musicianship", a band/musician must've demonstrated excellent musicianship qualities in 2005. (I know that's weird, but I couldn't word it that much better. I'm welcome to better definitions though)
- To qualify for "Best Band Of 2005", a band/musician must've done one or more of the above.

DISCLAIMER:
These awards aren't restricted to the pop-punk genre. They are awarded as a whole and to the forum's taste in music as a whole, so don't feel pressured or restricted when nominating.

Now get nominating!

Jon, I can't believe you like Versus The Mirror. They're generic and terrible.

BridgeToSolace 10-31-2005 04:06 PM
Jon, I can't believe you like Versus The Mirror. They're generic and terrible.
1) Only pop-punkish band that released an Ep this year that even I listened to, if I recall

2) They bring the rock. Their screamer has great power (which they don't try to ruin by singing), and they have some really nice "epicy" moments, like at the end of the first track.

Mainly it's the screamer though. He makes everything come together into a solid, raw EP.

If you want to make fun of someone, make fun of Commie for nominating Socratic (For musicianship anyway. I guess the rest is opinion and all thzt ghey stuff). I remember him nominating Underoath a few years ago for best musicianship. He's got a silly idea of what a talented guitarist sounds like.

Is Propagandhi consider pop-punk?

albert_bass 10-31-2005 04:08 PM

No, read the Disclaimer in the first post.

I don't really like any new pop-punk album this year to the point of considering it even close to one of the best in my tastes.

Confusing...

They better do!

Ok nice

albert_bass 10-31-2005 04:11 PM

By the way, A Wilhelm Scream aren't pop-punk. And they also released one of the best albums this year.
