Beginner Jazz songs for Guitar?
Could someone reccomend a couple of easier jazz songs on guitar? I want to start learning some jazz songs, but everything i listen to seems pretty complex, so any reccomendations on where to begin?

My Funny Valentine, Blue in Green, My Foolish Heart, My Romance, Wave, It Could Happen to You...
Girl from Ipanema is what I'm starting with.
If you don't have any experience with rhythm, it'll throw you for a loop (as it did with me), but otherwise it's simple. |
pink panther and a night in tunisia
Missing Tooth-(Dan Beach?) its as easy or hard as you want to make it.
"Blue Christmas" is very easy.
Giant Steps.

thats where i started,good song |
Autumn leaves is always a good one
Blue Bossa,All Blues,All of Me
yeah All Blues is what i first learned, its also neat son to jam over since its jsut a repeating 12bar blues
"Afternoon in Paris" is also a good place to start with the II-V-I-progression
lullaby of birdland is a good one to learn that -/-maj7/-7/-6 movement
Autumn Leaves and All the Things You Are. Both are chock full of standard songbook cliches, and they are great tunes for getting the sound in your ear. Learn a rhythm changes and a blues as well.

Christmas Song aka Chesnuts roasting on an open fire
http://www.higherpraise.com/Lyrics4/TheChristmasSong.htm also go here.. many versions here. and people talk about the chords and the complexity. http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/Forum60/HTML/000040.html take the time to learn these chords... i can help you with them in many different spots. this is such a cool jazz version of this song. you will love it. |
Autumn Leaves

all of me
C Jam

Sugar's a great tune. We do that one in small groups. |
