ITT: We personally recommend bands to each other.

Here's a novel idea. We all know each other pretty well, or well enough to know, for instance, that Shannon is an alcoholic, Nick is a nerd, I wish I was a cowboy, Eric is a big fat stupid, Griffin has the best tatse in music (besides me), Jessica likes stupid Canadian ska bands, etc.

So we will personally suggest bands/albums/songs to each other and we'll all be happy and in love.

Nick: The Dirty South by the Drive-By Truckers. Trust me. It's the greatest album of all time.

IHateHate (Juan?): As Good As Dead by Local H. Trust me. Grunge that doesn't suck, great lyrics.

Griff: Anodyne or No Depression by Uncle Tupelo. Trust Me. Revolutionary, had the genius idea to combine their love of Johnny Cash, Neil Young, and Southern rock with the boredom and energy of Midwestern punk rock, a la Husker Du, in the late 80's/early 90's, single-handedly ushered in "alt. country".

And so on.

gastery6 10-20-2005 05:14 PM

Good Idea, but I dont know if it will work in the long run

AndreTheHyena 10-20-2005 05:15 PM

Shut up, dissenter.

Anxious 10-20-2005 05:29 PM

Good idea, but nothing comes to mind right now.

Brain Toad 10-20-2005 06:11 PM

I find this thread interesting, so I defy the closing mod and reopen it!

And I've already listened to The Dirty South, Andre. It was extreamly good. I listened to Uncle Tupelo and it was alright.

Everyone needs to listen to the Ducky Boys.

SactoUnited 10-21-2005 01:30 AM

Biscuit_box 10-21-2005 02:38 AM

I think everybody should listen to The Dangerfields. I gave to Nick on Soulseek one time. I'm sure he hasn't listened to it but the rest of you should get it off him.

Anxious 10-21-2005 01:07 PM

And to Andre I reccomend the Mekons, if you already havent heard them.

AIRIC 10-21-2005 01:20 PM

I recommend Bear Vs Shark to Cheesewhiz

Anxious 10-21-2005 01:22 PM

What do they sound like?

AIRIC 10-21-2005 01:27 PM

Indie/punk/emo type thing. They mix many different genres.

Anxious 10-21-2005 01:29 PM

everyone should listen to Insult To Tradition (www.purevolume.com\insulttotradition) and he's probably heard of them but Kith should check out the vagabonds?

evildemonlemurs 10-21-2005 11:43 PM

I recomend the Residents to anyone. They are most definetly the weirdest band I have ever heard. Personal favorite albums are Duck Stab and the Commercial Album.

I recommend Murder By Death to everybody.

Saberpunk 10-22-2005 12:47 AM

Biscuit_box 10-22-2005 05:54 AM

Great Albums. I've always loved the residents. I was just listening to tunes of two cities for the first time in a long time. I forgot how much I loved it.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/eyecostume.jpg This is me dressed up in my residents costume when I went to see them in Chicago a few years back.

AndreTheHyena 10-22-2005 04:19 PM
And to Andre I reccomend the Mekons, if you already havent heard them.
I've heard them, and they're great, but thanks anyway. To you I recommend Man Man. I don't remember their website, but they're on Ace Fu, so you may check the Ace Fu website: www.acefu.com
I recommend Murder By Death to everybody.
If you like Murder By Death, to you I recommend Cursive, and if you dig Cursive you may even dig a little Brand New.

minorbrockthreat 10-22-2005 06:31 PM

recomend some thrash bands bitches, like DRI, bones brigade, municipal waste, what happens next, spitting teeth, tear it up, knee deep in Sh it, Shtuff

Brain Toad 10-22-2005 06:32 PM

Andre, you may like Ani Difranco for your folk tastes. And anyone into folk/anti-folk should also check her out.

And Dom, I didn't like Live at the Witch Trials, I liked the other album I have by them though. Witch Trials sounded like Crass.
