[Recording] In Death - Is Iechine (PODXT)
I posted this a bit ago but it was late and I dont think anyone saw it.
Anyway, I learned the bass for it today and spent the day EQ'ing and adjusting parametrics. Im really, reeeally interested in hearing everyones opinions about the mix and guitar sounds, Im trying to improve my tone. This is all PodXT, guitars and bass. I may record more of this song if I get bored enough to program the drums...they are kind of intricate. What do you think of it, MX? http://www.burnwashington.com/idiiechine.mp3 |

It sounds to me that you need some more reverb on the clean guitar and on the snare drum too. Also, the clean guitar was a bit too low in the mix, the bass overpowered them in the frist part imo. The distorted guitars sound good, perhaps they could use some compression, how are you recording them?

There is no bass in the first part...like, I said Pod XT Pro. Analog out. |
Ugh...
No tone comments, at all? |
I suck at describing tone but here goes
at the start it wasn't as smooth as it could've been, slightly distorted when I didn't think it should've been, other than that it seemed close, but no cigar |
Sounds good enough to me. Nice job.

sounds cool!
dont know the original bit it rocks! |
Ugh...

Meshuggah's tone is less gainy and more focused. Also on the cleans, you need to make them sound more uniform. The bass notes sound are way louder than the treble notes and it's not clean enough. Like Paul said, they sound too gainy. |
The distorted tone is too gainy. It was an ok recording.
|
The tone was ok, I didn't ike the distorted tone at the end (Last 30 seconds or so).
I didn't like the song either, but that doesn't matter. |
the distorted tone had too much treble imo
sounded thin |

If you guys dont mind then, listen to just a bit of
http://www.burnwashington.com/kilen.mp3 Is that more along the kind of distortion that sounds 'good' to you? |
I didn't really like that tone either.
|
hmm, i thought it sounded better :)
