Happymeal 10-03-2005 04:37 PM

on a live video it's "sigah ross"

pikester 10-03-2005 04:39 PM

Nobody ever pronounces it right. It makes me sad.

As for how to actually pronounce it, I refer you to: http://sigur-ros.co.uk/band/pronunci.php
How about Sufjan Stevens?
Depends where he's from. :p

pikester 10-03-2005 04:51 PM

Soof-yon Stee-vens.

I was going to say it in my post before, because his name almost always comes up in pronounciation threads, but I figured it had been said enough.

I was wrong again.

ZEROthirtythree 10-03-2005 04:53 PM

So is Mogwai... mog-way?

and is Kaada.... kay-da?

Bartender 10-03-2005 04:55 PM

Mog-why, I think.

And I've always pronounced Kaada kind of like Carda.

superpeer 10-03-2005 04:55 PM
So is Mogwai... mog-way?

I'd pronounce it Mogwhy, but that's just me.

BEATEN

And I'd say Kah-dah.

This would be so much easier if you all knew the phonetic alphabet.

ATM 10-03-2005 05:01 PM

I say Mog-why, as well.

Mog-way sounds really akward.

I was debating how to phrase my phonetic Kaada for quite a while.

Zappa 10-03-2005 05:13 PM

It's mog way or the high-way.

Wanker 10-03-2005 05:42 PM

I think it's phoenetically pronounced 'seeyor rose.'

and I pronounce Mogwai as 'Mogwhy.' I dunno why.

I do know the International Phonetic Alphabet.

Slight edit for misreading.

Zappa 10-03-2005 06:50 PM
Einstürzende Neubauten is pronounced Ein-stoort-SEND-ay NOY-bow-ten.
Ein-stoort-SEND-uh is what my German education would lead me to believe.

Sorry, my dastardly Spaniard slipped in there.
