Up for sale.... again...

It'd an old thread, but new special for MXers...

$330 SHIPPED TO CONTINENTAL US. SHIPS IN PADDED GIG BAG

Alright guys, you've seen it, heard it, wanted it, now buy it. This time it's up for sale-- but only for sale. I want no trades, please. Some info:

Title: Peavey Grind NTB W/ EMG DCs and Active Preamp
Condition: good
Category: Music
Details: Peavey Grind NTB purchased new in 2003. Has slight use, but stock pickups were upgraded to EMG Dual Coils and passive tone replaced with an EMG 2 band preamp. Easily adjustable, low action, great even output, excellent for slap and tap. Fingerstyle sounds very natural in a band situation, as does pick playing. Email at jedurs@wm.edu OR leave a message in this thread.

As for sound clips:

http://www.soundclick.com/jasondurso

"Slap Comp Semifinals vs. Madthumbs" features the bass quite a bit. It has a very punchy clear sound-- comparable to wootens in many ways. It's also in the "Video game...?" As the slap bass in the right ear and also as the solo bass at about the 2:50 mark (it's distorted, and you can really hear how full it is in the midrange with that clip. it sounds great distorted).

Thanks for any interest. I've dealt with a few people on MX before, and many people on here can vouch for my prompt replies, although I've always been admittedly iffy about trades. If you think you have a good trade offer-- preferably for a decent acoustic/electric guitar and/or a good inexpensive 60's japanese-made bass (the ones that go on ebay for like, 80 bucks) or a decent 6er, make me an offer, but I can't guarantee I'll be very happy with a trade.

god i wish i could get this, but im still in debt, and i want a fretless badly. good luck selling it though.

Tryxx 09-15-2005 07:22 PM

At first I thought it was the Scarab and immediatly started thinking, "What do I have to pawn?"

Sade 09-15-2005 07:22 PM

I'll trade you a Zon Hyperbass for it.

Still want no trades?

I play that funky music 09-15-2005 07:26 PM

Done.

I've been using the scarab sooooo much lately. I finally found three amazing tones. One is this p-bass tone... except it's got more balls. P-bass on steroids AND crack. It's my band tone-- then I've got this setting with the P in parallel and the J in series where it sounds like a stingray/flea bass, and then I've got this insane setting that is just perfect piano sound. That sucker is my bass from now on, and is actually the reason I'm selling my peavey.

Foxfire 09-15-2005 07:40 PM

This reminds me, I'm thinking of selling my Curbow.

Schecter Elite 5 = win

Good luck with the sell

AlmightyPancake 09-15-2005 07:44 PM

Oh yes, and I don't mean to fish, but anyone who has heard this bass live, over YIM, or remember it's tone from other recordings can really help me out by giving their feedback-- positive or negative. I'm also happy to do soundclips for anyone-- whether it's direct, processed, etc.

I regret ever considering selling it.

Wow, AP, that's a nice set bass you're selling there...good price, too. If I like Peavey basses I'd buy it. :p

If it doesn't sell, let me know: I sort of know someone that wants to start playing bass.

ROFL  , best thing ive heard all day.

AlmightyPancake 09-15-2005 07:59 PM

350.

:p

It means "Or Best Offer". Basically, if someone says "I'll give you 350" and someone else says "I'll give oyu 400!" before I agree to the sale, I'll sell to the highest bidder, but the price I'm asking is pretty much set, and I'd usually favor the person who first asked.

oh, ****, i suck today...

edit: it is a 4 sting, right?

if that was a five string grind, i would jump on it like a fat panther on a doughnut

Tryxx 09-15-2005 09:40 PM

I just remembered my bass teacher was supposed to buy a 6 string grind from the studio, just to mess with along with his Cirrus. He never mentioned anything about it, I'll try and pass it along to him.

eguitaranlead 09-15-2005 09:51 PM

IBassLikeThis, dont even worry if it is a fiver or not. if i had the money and dint have a bass on its way to me. i would jump all over this bass. i have heard it before directly into his computer and the tone was sex. so i am telling you people now.

IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY THIS THING DONT EVEN THINK. JUST DO!

eguitaranlead 09-15-2005 09:51 PM

YEAH i have finaly reached the 500 mark.

IPolkaLikeThis! 09-15-2005 09:53 PM

i am actually saving up for a used five string cirrus bpx(?) it is at guitar center for 550. should i get that or this? i mean, that one is stock, this one is upgraded. which would be better?

AlmightyPancake 09-15-2005 11:01 PM

^that all comes down to personal preference. Cirrus BXPs are amazing, and if you're set on a fiver, I highly reccomend the one at your shop. However, if the only reason you're buying a fiver is to have a low B, buying this and slapping a B on it would produce a phenomenal sound. If you're-- as I'm guessing- Getting the 5er for metal, the EMGs in this will produce a high-gain sound that will fit the metal music quite nicely. It also does well for Jazz and funk, but, admittedly, it is not the greatest bass to use for punk. It still does punk incredibly well, but it's just not well enough endowed in the clickety treble range, although I'd imagine an amp would fix that.

One quick edit on the condition-- the bridge pickup volume knob for some reason wobbled to the point where i feel as though it may come on. I'll have this fixed before shipping it anywhere, though.

AlmightyPancake 09-15-2005 11:02 PM

Oh yes, and I WILL include stock pickups and pots.

IPolkaLikeThis! 09-16-2005 03:16 AM

I would be playing all styles of music, as my main band is a cover band. My secondary band is a kinda general, we play whatever comes out, kinda jam bandish with some blues and hard rock influances. and my third side band is an acoustic/emo duo type a thing. so yeah, i need an all around good sounding bass.

AlmightyPancake 09-16-2005 09:58 AM

Well, I used this bass for rock, emo, metal, jazz, acoustic music, and even a bit of pop and rap, so I assure you that this abss is very versatile.

IPolkaLikeThis! 09-16-2005 01:05 PM

How thick is the neck? Is it more comparable to a precision or a jazz?

AlmightyPancake 09-16-2005 01:57 PM

It's actually amazingly thin. Much thinner than your average Jazz neck.

This is the only picture I have in my databanks now:

I'll take some better ones with my roommate's digital camera if people show interest.
