What a bass!

So ive had this bass for nearly a week now and im really in love with it. Its third hand but still in basically brand new condition :)


Sound:

The natural sound from this thing without an amp is very nice. Its kind of crispy, yet with some punch and growl behind it. When amped, the bass comes to life with the onboard EMG BTS pre-amp and some passive EMG-HZ pickups. Despite what people say, these pickups are really nice. This is my second bass with these in and i love them. I can get a nice range of different tones, from that 70's hollow slap, to a phat, 90's agressive sound. The mellow tones I can get are really nice too :)
It is quite true when they say the electronics are middy. I think the pre-amp could do with a mid control. That would be perfect!
I currently have some EB hybrid slinkies on it and I have to say, the sound is very nice for slap!

Looks:
well... what can i say! :naughty: Its an absolutely beautiful bass! I love it to pieces! The maple top looks really nice and shines in the light nicely. The mahogony body has a really lively, fresh colour to it and a good grain. The satin gold hardware looks really nice and compliments the bass well. It doesnt look like cheapo jewellery either! :p
I cant fault on its looks at all! Although I would die for it to have a spalted maple fretboard!! The rosewood looks nice enough though ;)

Playability:
Well, this bass plays really nicely! It has a reasonably thin neck which is really comfortable and fits my hand nicely. What I find funny is that, even though the action is not how I want it (pretty high) the bass still plays wonderfully! Im thinking once I get it set up professionally, its going to be a dream! I have to say, im extremely impressed by the harmonics on this bass! I can clearly get 1.5's out of it! Whereas on my Spector, it was a trouble to get a 2 out of it.

Quality of Workmanship:
High! Surprisingly high for the amount these basses go for! I cant find any faults at all really. The wood is very nicely carved and shaped, the finish is very smooth and clear, there's no sharp frets, no visible glue anywhere, and its very well built. The tuners and bridge are of high quality and the bass is keeping tune wonderfully!

Well, im incredibly impressed with this bass! I definately reccomend this, and all schecters. Ive played a few schecters in my time and they have all more than impressed me :)

That's one nice looking bass, surprising for it being third hand. Some people can keep them in really nice condition though, so it can be believed.

Glad you love it, have never played one before but from that way it sounds, it's a well built bass. The bridge looks really nice. :cool:

im getting the studio 4 which has a mid cut =) and a string through body yum!

ive tried this bass too i went for the studio because of what i just mentioned but still this bass is beautiful and worth every penny the construction is just amazing and the FEEL good buy man! cant go wrong with them. now hopefully i dont get a lemmon when my order comes in =(

I have heard nothing but good reviews about this great piece of work. I'm ordering a custom 5 soon. Originally i was gonna get in in the vampire cherry red but as i stare at that photo more and more that natural finish looks better and better. Is that a photo u just got or is that your instrument?? I also love the curves of this bass. Most basses in this price range are all square and boxy

How much does the Custom 4 strings cost ppl?

Why do Ibanez and Schecter always put crappy rosewood fretboards on there with all those other great woods? Maybe Brazilian Rosewood (aka Bubinga), Coco Bolo, Ebony, Wenge, any of those would do.

But please, not that crap.

Oh my god!!!I'm getting the exact bass tomoro! for my birthday! i love it.....it's an amazing and sexy bass.

[I]Schecter creates some of the most gorgeous and downright enjoyable basses.[/I] I played (I believe) one of their Elite-4's just the other day and I didn't want to put it down. It's much different from my current bass (a rip-off of a Warwick), but it's definitely a good change and I loved the way it sounded. I'm looking forward to buying one in the near future, hopefully around winter when I can get the money.

I have an elite, custom, and studio, in just about every form. I am a schecter whore, and I love every single one of them to death.

There is nothing wrong with rosewood.

Since when is brazilian rosewood also known as bubinga?

Having any of these woods as boards would bump up the price a good $300 - $500 which puts it out of the reach of people who they're aiming their basses at.

yo just bought that bass like last month,and i love the thing to death.the pic on the computer doesnt even show how beautiful it actually looks.I currently own this and the schecter elite and both are the greatest basses i have ever played.Schecter knows how to make a killer bass.

I didn't know Schecter had such an impressive series of basses. I always thought they only made parts. Now my life won't be complete until i've got a Studio 4 in my room :upset:

No, Schecter used to be a company that made replacement parts and readymade bodies/necks to assemble your own guitar.

i was only asking in a thread the other day what bass to buy next, and now i think i have found the answer. it's got to be worth splashing out a bit more for this.. i'm from the UK and am having trouble sourcing one over here...

Looks Nice, Ive played a lot of Schecter basses, they look and sound nice, but have a tendancy to have slightly scrappy workmanship, but only ina cosmetic sense.

I love Schecters, and I was thinking about buying the Schecter Custom 5 as my next bass.

I saw it on the site in the white colour, and I fell absolutely in love with it.

I currently own a Schecter, and I love it.

Just bought a new Schecter stilletto studio 5 string and coming from a Johnson bass this thing seems to me to have been made from god himself for me. Overall schecter makes excellent basses, an awesome buy :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
