Ginger

Ginger: That loveable lunatic from Newcastle, best known for fronting The Wildhearts with honorable mentions for his solo work, Clam Abuse, Silverginer 5, and Supershit 666; Writer of some of the best riffs of all time; all round great guy. We all love him.

Unfortuantely for him his life seems to have turned from shit to worse. And then went on a bit of a decline :( For the full story click here.

The saving grace of this story is that Ginger has written enough new material to record another solo album, and started recording it in the 22nd of this Month. This new material is apparently his "best work to date" :)

So, in this thread we highly anticipate Ginger's new release and generally discuss anything Ginger related (again).

I wonder what effect this his current situation will have on the accoustic dates that he announced :-/

This is a post in munky's thread because he needs to continue to make threads.

I don't know anything about this guy, though, considering I'm on the other side of the pond from you.

I'll read that article, though :)

I'll also expect a concert review after you attend.

munky_magik 05-23-2005 10:03 AM

I'll upload some stuff from each of his projects for you to check out at your leisure.
But basically he's a good guy, writes great music and has a great sense of humour.

LarsAgi007 05-23-2005 10:11 AM

Oh my, I just read the article, The poor guy : / I can't wait to listen to this new material he has wrote, it will be interesting to see what all of this has done to his songwriting.

munky_magik 05-23-2005 10:27 AM

I don't think he's actually capable of writing a bad song. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.

Ginger - Motorvate An original Ginger song, but performed live with Silver Ginger 5. This is taken from the second disk of Silverginger 5's Black Leather Mojo. Great song, and is excellent live.

Silverginger 5 - Anyway But Maybe Taken from the first disc of Silverginger 5's Black Leather Mojo. Silverginger 5 are one of Ginger's side projects.

The Wildhearts - Lovesh*t A classic track from The Wildhearts who were, until recently, Ginger's main commitment.

Supersh*t 666 - You Smell Canadian Another of Ginger's side projects featuring members from The Hellacopters. Another really great track.

Clam Abuse - Message to GeriAnother of Ginger's sideprojects. This time showcasing his wide style of writing ability.

I am very tempted to go see them in Leeds :thumb:

superpeer 05-23-2005 10:47 AM

I quite like the Wildhearts, don't know about Ginger though. :)

Ali, people who like the Wildhearts like Therapy?, and vice versa it's a rule.

I know this. Feel free to shamlessly plug Therapy? in here as well. I pretty much made the thread to alert a few people about Ginger's new solo stuff.

I'm not out to start sh*t or anything, but isn't the wildhearts some wannabe 80's retro band?

munky_magik 05-23-2005 12:49 PM

If you could explain what you mean a bit more I'll be happy to answer.

I don't know, To me they are not, But its all a matter of opinion, why don't you listen to some of the links above and tell us what you think of them.

Basically doing things like Mötley etc did back in the 80's

Six Foot Revolver 05-23-2005 02:39 PM
Basically doing things like Mötley etc did back in the 80's
Which is?

munky_magik 05-23-2005 02:41 PM

Their musical style isn't exactly the same, but I guess they lived the same lifestyle with the drinking and drugs. If that's what you meant.

Arise II 05-23-2005 02:50 PM

^^^ Musically. From what I've heard (just a few song clips though) its basically hair metal produced in the 21st century

munky_magik 05-23-2005 02:52 PM

I wouldn't class them as hair metal.
And they've been around for over a decade.

Bartender 05-23-2005 03:38 PM

Yeah, Ginger seems to have been having a pretty crappy time of it recently. I'm looking forward to the new album quite fantastically though, and to (finally) seeing one of his acoustic shows, on the 22nd. My tenancy runs out on the 24th, so it works out quite nicely. And as a result of being reminded that I'll hopefully be seeing him in a month or so, I'm actually listening to Grievous Acoustic Behaviour at the moment.

munky_magik 05-23-2005 04:48 PM

My thread was actually useful :)

I just want to keep this alive until Grateful Dead see's it. Then it can slink off to some other dimension.

Jom 05-24-2005 12:12 PM

B_mp.

Who wants to b_y a vowel?

u do :p

Bartender 05-31-2005 10:26 PM

After just a couple of listens, that sounds like a great song. Have to see if it remains so to me after a while, though. Really looking forward to the album now :(

munky_magik 06-15-2005 06:12 PM

There's a downloadable version of The Man Who CHeated Death avaliable here.
He's also put up another song on His Myspace.

And yeah, Grateful dead is right. TMWCD is addictive.

Bartender 06-16-2005 12:29 AM

I got word of that new song being up via the List a few days ago, but I've had no chance to listen to it yet. What's it like?

Bartender 01-27-2006 11:02 AM

I don't have it yet :(

Obviously I'm working on correcting this as soon as possible.

Bartender 02-05-2006 08:18 AM

I've got it now, and it is excellent. Good pick with Drinking in the Daytime.

Bartender 02-10-2006 12:42 PM

You should be able to get it from Amazon swiftly now. A day or two, if you pay for postage.

I'll have to make sure I get to one of those shows as well.

Bartender 02-10-2006 12:59 PM

Well that's just an unfortunate situation, then.

If you like, I could send you a few of the tracks to tide you over til they get their act together?

Bartender 02-10-2006 01:09 PM

Did you get Drinking in the Daytime when it was here before?

Bartender 02-10-2006 01:28 PM

Okay, well then assuming that email address in your profile is up to date, you should have the links in your inbox.
