tornpictures 02-16-2005 11:31 AM

Youth of Today.
'Nuff said.

young, loud and andrew 02-16-2005 12:30 PM

Gorilla Biscuits-- no reason why.

har har har I'm so funny.

shane italian 02-16-2005 12:32 PM

Youth of Today or GB.

YoT restated that a positive outlook is all you need, GB reenforced it.

Let's Chop Cats! 02-16-2005 01:22 PM

I think those 2 would be the answer.

CONNER_NWHC 02-16-2005 05:27 PM

GB and chain of strenght

shane italian 02-16-2005 07:14 PM
GB and chain of strenght
**** Chain Of Strength. Those guys talked so much about edge and they broke.

young, loud and andrew 02-16-2005 09:08 PM

CoS broke?? That's hilarious... didn't YoT break as well?

Even though I'm not edge, I find it funny when people who rep it really hard break it.

shane italian 02-16-2005 09:12 PM

Hell, Ian Mackaye is a ****ing smack addict now.

Joke?

shane italian 02-16-2005 09:14 PM
Joke?
No joke. A club owner in Dallas whom I've spoken with a few times told me a story about when he snuck out of his house and hitched his way to see a Fugazi show and he said Ian was all cracked out and stuff along with being drunk.

40 oz 2 freedom 02-16-2005 09:57 PM

YoT is probably more important, but much more people listen to GB.

Gay shit. I still love the music though. I downloaded The One Thing That Still Holds True on your recomendation. Very awesome. Off topic, but I also bought Nothing to Hide on your recomendation. Thanks for that. It's amazing.

Yeah. They're a greeeeeeeat band. Nothing to Hide is just overall better than Difference Between, but Difference Between has a few songs that really stand out.

Chain of Strength broke edge in the 80's, fellas. Not only that, but they claimed immediately afterwards that they never were an edge band to begin with and that people took "True Till Death" out of context.

shane italian 02-17-2005 09:42 AM

Are you sure about them breaking in the 80s? They just got done recording The One Thing That Still Holds True in the early 90s.

Riot For Romance! 02-17-2005 09:43 AM

Youth of Today wrote the song "Youth Crew", so it's obviously them. All of their lyrics were based off of the same positive-outlook themes.

Some other influential youth crew bands (both old and newer):

Judge
Chain of Strength
Gorilla Biscuits
Floorpunch
Holding On
Carry On
Side By Side
Shark Attack
Rain On The Parade
Damage
Wide Awake
Project-X
Fastbreak
Count Me Out
Shelter (sort of)
97a (skatecore/YC crossover)
In My Eyes
Ten Yard Fight
XfilesX
Battery

Hahaha, exactly my point. They broke edge before they even started touring for the record. In fact, that's why so many people are angry with them. It's the same thing with Carry On... They broke edge on tour and continued to play their edge songs to edge kids all the while going back to their van and drinking beer.

shane italian 02-17-2005 09:45 AM

Hahah, I don't think I would call xfilesx a youth crew band. Still an awesome band though.

theburn 01-30-2006 04:14 AM

Actually Ian Mackaye never did broke edge. Said so in person to many interviews over the years. People make **** up and tell everyone. Case closed.

And Carry On never broke edge. The singer of the band did. Corey, Todd, and Greg from Carry On never broke edge.

Good job on bringing back a year old thread.

Either way, what makes a band edge is usually the singer, being that they would have lyrics about edge and whatnot. If the singer breaks, then so does the bands image of being straight edge. A band isn't a person who can literally break edge, it's merely breaking the image they once had from using lyrics about it.

Although, Carry On still rules on record, so I don't care.

TakeWarning 01-30-2006 09:36 AM

Carry On still rule, but it's kind of hypocritical to say all that shit then reveal you have a cocaine addiction.

Whether or not they broke edge, ALLP is still in my top 5 favourite albums of all time.

Times Ten 01-30-2006 10:15 AM

Since when was xFilesx a youth crew band?

Unban Me Says Cameo 01-30-2006 04:34 PM

Isn't there a website to see where all the people are who broke edge?

whiteminority 01-30-2006 04:47 PM

That would be a website to behold.
