vic wooten and primus
 

does vic wooten have a solo album? if so could you guys tell me which one is the best one? also which primus album is the best in terms of bass?

I personally like Yin-Yang by Vic (double CD, so plenty to listen to). Primus, well, pretty much you can't go wrong there. Each CD has certain classic songs on it, and I really can't recommend one over the other.

Well, then why don't you just download everything you can find by W00ten and Primus? Lol, seems logical ;)

Primus is a matter of taste. I prefer Brown Album and Antipop because of Brain's drumming. Those CD's also have great bass songs (Bass is probably more technical on Antipop). Pork Soda is my favourite CD with Tim Alexandra, then probable seas of cheese or frizzle fry.

ditto on brown album man...i love it...has a nice raw nasty sound to everything...first primus album i got was frizzle fry, then sailing, then antipop, then misc debris and then, and then, and then..NO AND THEN

I prefer Anti-pop for bass personally. It's also the most accessible song wise too. Saling the Seas of Cheese is excellent for bass also...

screw listening just for bass....if i did that id buy and listen to victor wooten....listen to music as a whole...dont focus just on bass....it'll hld you back...draw inspiration from the band as a whole not just individual musicians

Yeah i know i love Primus as a band not just Claypool, but i was just answering his question.

Assuming you were talking to me there? If not well that's my two bucks on the matter anyway :lol:

As for Vic "what did he say" in my opinion is the most varied in musical styles (his cover of "Norwegian woods" by the beatles is amazing) and for primus either frizzle fry or anti-pop top the list for me! :thumb:

No ones mentioned Primus's Rhinoplasty or Vic's A Show Of Hands.

I think there's no real telling wich of the two (claypool vs wooten) is better, they're both extraordinary players. My vote goes to Wooten, I'm listening to the Flecktones right now (Live at the Quick) and IMO it's some of the best music ever made, it makes me feel good.

Frizzle Fry, to me, is Primus' best album.

frizzle fry and seas of cheese are both awesome albums, cant go wrong with either, antipop also deserves a mention

I think as a whole I enjoy Pork Soda and Tales From The Punch Bowl the most. I haven't heard much of Wooten, just a few select songs.

Wooten - a Show of hands

Its my favourite bass solo album ever. And as my collection includes many bass solo albums, that is saying something about the quality of that cd.

As impressive as Wooten is I cannot physically sit down and listen to a whole album by him.

Primus- I say Sailing the Seas Of Cheese, and Pork Soda but I only have those and Misc Debris

Exactly. Once I got beyond his technique, A Show Of Hands was really boring.

The only Primus album I have is Seas of Cheese.

If you don't mind elevator music, Vic's albums are amazing. Sadly, therein lies the challenge.
Funny... he's my favorite player, and yet I only enjoy a few of his songs.
Claypool is and always will be a fun guy to listen to. Pork Soda was my favorite Primus album. You might want to look into Purple Onion too, which is an album by Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade.
