Rush Rules!

Rush is, in my opinion, the greatest band on the planet. Of that I have no doubt. They're simply timeless.

BludgeonySteve 11-16-2004 07:03 PM

Hehe, true. They're one of the most talented (and well known at thesame time) bands ever.

I don't really like the vocals though. I can stand them and all but better vocals and they would probably be my favorite band.

Yeah the vocals sound like a 15 year old guy who just got kicked in the nuts. HARD. But besides that, they are a good band.

Groove Man Stan 11-16-2004 07:10 PM

Yeah, but I don't mind the vocals. The only thing I don't understand is how Geddy manages to sing Big Money while nailing that sweet-*** bass line.

fINGERS MAN, IT'S ALL ABOUT TEH FINGERS

-(is wearing their 2112 shirt right now)-

Groove Man Stan 11-16-2004 07:20 PM

**** you fingers! They were never my friends. I play with a pick, which I guess is a no-no.

MaidenPumpkin 11-16-2004 07:22 PM

I used to hate Rush with a passion, and now, I don't. I think they absolutely rule. I'm glad i wised up.

It's all about the fingers man!

^Dream~Theater^ 11-16-2004 07:26 PM

YYZ is an unbeleivable instrumental, has anyone heard Dream Theater's cover of it? Mind Blowing!

BludgeonySteve 11-16-2004 07:28 PM
YYZ is an unbeleivable instrumental, has anyone heard Dream Theater's cover of it? Mind Blowing!
Considering that Dream Theater is more skilled than Rush (a very hard thing to do). I'd love to heard that.

Groove Man Stan 11-16-2004 07:30 PM

I know It's all about the fingers, but where one of mine go, the rest go! The only way I might be able to finger-play is with the index and pinky, but my pinky's too weak.

Practice!

Groove Man Stan 11-16-2004 07:38 PM

Practice has never been my friend either.
And the only Rush song I can play is The Temples Of Syrinx.

I agree with the title.

black_sabbath634 11-16-2004 07:49 PM

this is off subject, kind of, but it has to do with rush..

better epic song
change of seasons
or
2112

Groove Man Stan 11-16-2004 07:54 PM

Yeah. Totally. I'm glad I got into Rush while I'm young (I'm fourteen), so I can appreciate and learn all their stuff early in life.

Groove Man Stan 11-16-2004 07:55 PM

I don't know what you meant, but choose 2112!

MaidenPumpkin 11-16-2004 07:56 PM

You do know that The Temples Of Syrinx is just a part of 2112 right?

Ah man, that is a good question. A Change Of Seasons is an awesome song but I would have to go with 2112. 2112 is just an awesome song, not to mention a wonderful album.

Groove Man Stan 11-16-2004 07:58 PM

Yes. Yes I do. I own the album.

black_sabbath634 11-16-2004 08:04 PM

by epic i ment long *** song

Gibbers3095 11-16-2004 08:43 PM

I used to not like Rush, but that was also when I loved Nirvana...

However, now I really like the music, and I can even stand Geddy's voice. Neil Peart(sp?) is an amazing drummer, up with the best of them, and with Geddy playing great bass and Alex playing great guitar, they simply amaze me. A **** good band.

hardcoreskanker 11-16-2004 08:58 PM

moving pictures especially YYZ

Nah, by epic you mean long *** great song. :thumb:

FFbassist26 11-17-2004 07:36 PM

yea im all for rush. i saw them live on 6/4 they rocked for 3 freaking hours. geddy almost passed out on the last song-limelight

MAthiAS 11-17-2004 08:58 PM

Geddy Lee's vocals are great, I think they fit the music real well. And his basslines are awesome. The guitar work is perfect, and Neil Peart owns on drums. They're a great band, and have a lot of talent. I both respect them and love their music.

LumpyCustard 11-18-2004 12:52 AM

Ok. im new to this.
I have heard a lot of fuss around Rush, i havn't heard any of there songs.
Which are some really good songs that i should listen 2?

coddingtown 11-18-2004 01:11 AM

Rush definately does rule. Geddy's voice is as unique as his bass tone. I like both. Niel peart is **** good too

In no particular order:

Limelight
Cold Fire
Totem
Red Barchetta
Earthshine
Vapor Trail
Roll the Bones
The Sprit of Radio
2112 (the whole thing)
Xanadu
Cygnus X-1 (part 1 and 2)
Rivendell
Lock and Key
By-Tor and the Snow Dog
Yyz
La Villa Strangiato
Red Sector A
The Big Money
Closer to the Heart
Nobody's Hero
Something for Nothing
Subdivisions

That's just off the top of my head.

All the members of the band are virtuosos who just have an amazing synergy with each other. I'm partially influenced by Alex Lifeson as a guitarist myself. That man can do everything. Classical, electric, acoustic, lead, rhythm, effects. He's one of the most innovative guitarists of our time.
