for older stuff, try the Clash, Cock Sparrer, the Jam, 999, the Business, Blitz...

for newer stuff, try the GC5, the Gadjits, the Distillers, Dropkick Murphys, Union 13, US Bombs, Catch 22, Roger Miret and the Disasters, Marky Ramone and the Intruders, New Bomb Turks, H2O, the Living End, Swingin' Utters...

for bands with members of Rancid, try Operation Ivy, Transplants, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards...and Social Distortion

See, unlike some of the you 'not more Rancid' fuccks Andre is actually useful. But he did forget to mention the UK Subs (Lars) and MDC (Matt), but I didn't know Social D had a rancid member so who's keeping score?

word... Rancid Rocks... they were poppy for a TINY bit, during the 90's, but they still rock...

SickBoy 10-12-2004 11:17 AM

no, they poppy now

masterbasser2000 10-12-2004 11:54 AM

rancid is awesome. the reason that they are so awesome is that they arent so obsessed with conveying some sort of image that they have no time to make good music. for instance, name a punk band in the 90's who wouldve had the balls to make a record like life wont wait. the only songs on that record that sounded even anywhere similar to their other stuff were leicaster square, the wolf, and turntable. that record was so innovative. i realize a bunch of elitists may hate this record cause it wasnt 'punk' enough, but thats because their heads are to far up their asses to even bother listening past hoover street. i cant wait for the comments i get for this one.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 10-12-2004 12:01 PM

^^Stop thinking of yourself as such a hardcore rebel.

Most people on this site seem to have the opinion that Life Won't Wait is Rancid's best

DBoons Ghost 10-12-2004 12:06 PM

Albums like "And out come the pop stars"

Hmm..

Maybe some Blink, or some Good Charlotte.

Life Won't Wait was as blatent a Clash ripoff as I ever saw. Musically, it was horrid, and Rancid really only made it to attempt to redeem themselves after enjoying the radio play they welcomed with singles like Ruby Soho and Time Bomb.

I find it amazing when people go to defend Rancid. Listen to Rancid 93 and Let's Go. Notice the progress? Then play "and out come the singles". Now, you can justify it any way you see fit, but it's obvious the direction they took that one album.

I would never say they suck or that they make crap music now, because interpertation is what makes musical indifference so fun to argue. However, you can't argue Billboard charts, record sales, and the audience they attracted.
