Behringer BX1200 - word of warning
Hey bass people,
Just thought I should let people know about something I've encountered. I've had a Behringer BX1200 for about 8 months now. It was fine up until the other day (apart from a blown fuse) when the power amp simply blew during a rehersal. I really like this amp, i think it has great sounds, features etc. but apparently many other people have had this happen too. Mine's still under warranty so I'm getting free repairs on it but the store I got it from told me they've had loads of returns of the BX1200's (dunno about the 600's). I was told if mine blows again I can exchange it for a different amp so I'll let you know whether it does go again. It's a strange problem because it's a really good amp at a really good price, and if you get one that doesn't break then it's brilliant but if it does keep breaking then what's the point in having it?!?! Hope that's of interest and help Bass_boy1 |
I've had the 600 for a about a year now and I haven't had a problem *knocks on wood*
i have a 1200 too and i agree it a gr8 but ive only had it 4 about 6months n nothins happend yet apart from fuses blowing thx for leting me kno :thumb:
Ive had a 600 for roughyl a year now, and actually in the past week I think I have blown a fuse, what it does is make this odd vibrating / wavering sound come from it, and when I strike a note it just changes the tone of the noise.
i just got my bx1200 today :) i'll let ya know if i have any problems
yeah i know two people who have had this amp and both of them have had problems with it.
i recently just bought the bx3000t. i've had no problems with it and it sounds awesome. has anyone heard/know of any problems with this.
Just got mine today guys it's great sounds awesome and really good value for money does'nt seem anything wrong with it.
at the moment. :amaze: |
ive had my bx600 for about a year and six months the only problem i had was the speaker came loose after about 2 months i just had to tightin the screws and it was fine
i have the bx 600, and the power amp blew up too, it sounds good, and is a loud 60 watts, kind of dissapointing that the power amps blow up, but you get what you pay for i guess
Just a question: those who have had the BX1200 and had something (other than the fuse) blow, was it on a high volume at the time? I'm probably going to buy one soon, mostly for band practice and so it won't be on full volume most of the time.

I just got my BX 1200 3 days ago, and discovered a strage problem on Sunday, while doing the music service at my church. I had played the amp at home for the first 2 days after purchase, and everything was fine. When I plugged in the balanced XLR out to the board, it seemed to lose power. As I truned up the master volume control I noticed that the sound would get louder until about the 4 position, then gradually add distortion, and at about 6 on the dial would cut out completely! I discovered that it is related to the phantom power being on. Tried it at home with an audio buddy pre, and the same thing happened. As soon as I shut off phantom power, it was fine. Anybody else try this?
Apparently the phantom power thing is just a design flaw. My BX1200 just died the other day, I'm pretty sure the connection between the on/off switch and the wires is faulty but I'm not sure. Anyone care to help?
I've also had the problem of the amp "blowing" and the problem not being the fuse. I was with my band, and we had a break to go to McDonalds. Noone was in the house so my amp wasn't touched and when we got back my amp would not start. I had to send my amp back to Sydney for repairs, I was left without an amp for 3 weeks. I think their must be a fault with them judging by the number of people on here with similiar problems.

Thanks for the review.

Behringer stuff is so cheaply made. I would never buy behringer. It breaks so easily and although it may sound good, is completely unreliable. Maybe its good to use at home, but when your playing live I would never trust a behringer - I'd rather have something that is more reliable (when live playing everything that could possibly go wrong nearly always does @the moment you least expect it!!).

The Behringer Ultrabass BX 1200 (combo amp) rocks! :D Had it for +/- 6 months now and had no problems with it yet (except something that was not the amps fault)
..Eeh yeah.
My amp died within the first three hours I bought it. Although it was replaced as soon as I stopped at the store, I would recommend buying something..what's the word..sturdier? Don't get me wrong, it has a good sound and everything is top notch, but if an amp stops working within the first hours of use something's obviously faulty.

Dude, my amp wont even turn on. /gets home. plugs amp on. Me - arnt the lights supposed to come on. Mum/Shrugs. I know its fine though, the one i got is the display one from the shop, so i know its fine, i think it may have a blown fuse or sumet, im taking it to the shop, i have a waranty on it for a year or so. |
I've had a BX-600 for over 2 years and no problems, that's unfortunate about yours though.

ive had a BX 600 for about 2 years and i havent had any problems with .
Mine has been perfect apart from a blown fuse when i first got it :thumb:
mine was reliable enough when i had it......it just had a very sterile tone which is why i got rid of it. not an amp for those who like warm tones
Just got the BX1200 I ordered several weeks ago, and had the same problems. Won't go past 4 with the XLR OR the pre-amp out connected. And it sounds wimpy - not any better than my BX300. So back it goes!
