My most recent PM purchases are probably:

Excellent album! Another quality Italian PM band. Some catchy songs here.

Kotipelto - Coldness[/B]
Much more adventurous then his first album. Some of the drumming irritates me though.

[B]Stratovarius - Episode[/B]
Much better than Elements Pt2 which I thought was going to be the last Strat album I bought for a while.

[B]Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera[/B]
Urrgh sorry Frail when I first heard is I hated it. It sounded overproduced, cluttered and boring! I'm liking it more now though. Under the Ice is a great song. Maybe I'll like this album more after another couple of weeks.

What's the significance of the thread title?

Im not big on night at the opera either. Its good but the songs are very samey. Battle field and my precious jerusalum are great tho.

The greatest powermetal bands are Blind Guardian and Stratovarius IMO. Im listen to dragonforce at the moment and it rawks for just fun songs...nothing too serious but nice easy listening \m/

Recently heard thunderstones new album and it rawks...much better than their debut.

Don't know any other power metal. But I once got an angra song and it was so da.mn gay I had to delete it. Right away. And then take a shower.

Angra are great.

It was horrific. I felt defiled. The song was called "nova era".

I aggree, when i first got "a night at the opera" i hated it lol, actually i hated it for a little over a year!! than after awhile, something just clicked. give it sometime, i have friends who had the same reaction to it that i did...took them awhile too and its all of our favourites. maybe its a st.louis thing ;) lol

"episode"- it is one hell of an album, my frist Strato album but far from my favourite. got me into them but once they got their "classic" line up solified it gave them room to grow off what episode started.

"Coldness"- i completly aggree, much more depth than "waiting for dawn", still preety predictable and it didnt break any new metal boundaries...but Timo's voice is supreme and it is by no mean a bad album!!

Labryinth- im just not into these guys, granted their lead guitarist is fantastic, the songs dont catch me.

Do you guys consider Iced Earth power metal? Cause that's the only one I really listen to. I'm trying to get into Blind Guardian but i can't stop thinking that the singer is a chipmunk. Can someone reccomed me some songs by them?

Rhapsody is simply awesome. All of their albums are great.

I just discovered Children of Bodom. Those guys eat chains for breakfast. They have long hair and play the ultimate shred guitars: Jacksons. What more can I say. They own.

Iced Earth are more thrash metal than anything, but have a few hints of power metal...yet they lack the lyrical content, classical leads, use of keyboards, and uplifting chorus.

COB are pure genious!!! Wonderful live show, ive seen them twice (w/ Dimmu Borgir and w/ Iced Earth). Its a wonderful mix of raspy black metal vocals, thrashy guitar riffs, neo-classical leads, and power metal harmonies...one of metals finest bands out there.

If Therion is power metal, I like them.

And I love CoB.

Not a big fan of the genre otherwise.

I hope you're joking about CoB there (not you frail and not you peer) if you think they're badas.s or something... they're as gay as Micheal Jackson

you've been around the forum long enough that band bashing for no reason is unappriciated, if you dont like them fine. i happen to love COB and dont see why anyone whos into thrash metal wouldnt like them either.

Dargon, this is just like that time you bashed Nokturnal Mortum. It would be a wise choice in avoiding being flamed to stay away from this thread because all your posts will go something like "gay bands are gay because it's power lol."
