(Indie Rock) Sparta - Wiretap Scars

Sparta is one of the best Indie Rock bands out there, in my own personal opinion, and nothing shows them at their best better than Wiretap Scars. This album is nothing but original melodies from start to finish. If you enjoy bands such as Muse you'll definitly get into Sparta. Air mixes a little bit of Indie and Scremo styles that change frequently during the song, creating musical dynamics that you can really get into. Light Burns Clear is a relaxing song, meaningful, and defining their signature style in every riff. It's a little different and a few out of the ordinary pieces are thrown in there but they only add to the masterpiece. Assemble the Empire ends the album with a real bang. This song really leaves you wanting more. Again, they use the chaging dynamics to make the song come alive, going from slow to fast in a blink of an eye. Even if you're not too into Indie Rock, this is definitly an album to listen to. Sparta mixes a bit of Alternative and Rock styles into their music also. Great to listen to, from the middle of the day to late at night. Track Listing: 01 . Cut Your Ribbon 02 . Air 03 . Mye 04 . Collapse 05 . Sans Cosm 06 . Light Burns Clear 07 . Cataract 08 . Red Alibi 09 . Rx Coup 10 . Glasshouse Tarot 11 . Echodyne Harmonic 12 . Assemble The Empire SM's Rating: 4/5 |
9/10
Best track: Sans Cosm Hehe, I got their first MP3's the day their site first opened so I was one of the first people to hear them, yay! :D |
I just got the album after knowing of it for a while. It's an essential purchase.

Great review, great album :)

Collapse is the best song on the album. Good review though. I wouldn't give it a 4/5 though, maybe a 3.

I was at a concert in Toronto (to see the Used and Taking back sunday..amazing show btw) and this guy in a van was selling cds. It was like a mini store. He had told us that Bert McCraken was just outside (we hadnt noticed him) and so if it wasnt for this guy, we would have never met Bert. I was really happy and wanted to thank him. So i bought the Atticus comp. and i wanted him to tell me about some band i had never heard of, and so he sold me the Sparta cd. I didnt like it at first, but i listened to it more and more, and now i find myself signing all their songs lol its awesome and im glad he sold me this cd. hurray.

i'm not sure about the album but i have seen them live and if the album is like they were live should be a good album
|
Cataract is a sweet *** song..it's a decent effort I give it a 3/5
|
I'm with Scott Herren. One question: Is it just me or does "Cataract"'s main riff sound like an extension of the verse riff from ATDI's "Invalid Litter Dept."? I mean, Jim and company have all the right to use it and the songs both sound just fine and not too much alike but... it's just something that's bugged me and I want to know if anyone else thinks the two sound alike.
|
i remember talkinga bout this with my friend when we first heard this album (we both love all three abnds ATDI, Sparta and The Mars Volta).. I haven't thought about it in a while though. I'll have to listen again and see.

What a bad review.
Wiretap Scars > Porcelain. Sparta are finished. |
What a bad review.
Wiretap Scars > Porcelain. Sparta are finished.
It was one of the first CD Reviews ever, so there weren't any standards for a "good" review yet. But still, someone else ought to review this album a little better. "Collapse" is a great song. |
I called this a good review. :upset:
|
Someone redo it.
|
Only Sparta song I've heard is 'Cut Your Ribbon'. It's alright.
|
Cataract and Collapse are beautiful songs. This album gets 3.7/5 from me.
