*2.5

Liam only counts for half because he isn't cool enough to be a full-fledged Ryan fan.

YDload 09-25-2005 10:53 PM

I got all of these within the last month, in only two separate splurges. This is such an example of musical gluttony for me; I need to slow down :(

Iron Maiden- Killers
Primus- Sailing the Seas of Cheese
The Replacements- Let It Be
Coheed and Cambria- Good Apollo I'm Extremely Long and Stupid Title
Melvins- Houdini

Killers is a 5/5 and it may not be the only one in this collection.

I always thought that the singer on Killers sounded too much like someone from some biker bar in Nevada.

Nah that was just on the first album. On Killers he manages a few Halford-like screams. Pretty cool stuff

RollerQueen 09-26-2005 06:09 AM

Maybe I'll give it another listen.

Sep 09-26-2005 06:54 AM
Is it any good? I've already bought bath in a used CD store and I've left that one lying around for months, I could go pick it up, I'm pretty sure no one knows who Maudlin of the well are, around here. :)
Bump for 'tender to answer.

Bartender 09-27-2005 12:10 PM

Sorry. I haven't really listened to it enough to decide properly yet. So far it does sound very good though, yes. Bear in mind I only have one other Maudlin of the Well song (The Curve That To An Angle Turn'd) to compare it to, though.

EDIT: And I dislike you for having such easy access to Maudlin albums :(

superpeer 09-27-2005 12:13 PM

Haha, I was just kidding.

And it's just a huge coincidence that the only person in Belgium who owned a couple of their cd's put them up for sale in a used CD store.

Ryan Adams - Jacksonville City Nights
The Smiths - This Charming Man (Remixes)

Because I have to own every Smiths record, no point in stopping now.

FYI, I was at HMV today and most of the Smiths records (including The Queen is Dead and my personal favourite Hatful of Hollow) are on for 2/$15. Now that is a Canadian deal and I'm not sure what it is like in other countries of it a similar deal with similar albums is even offered, but for those of who were thinking of checking the band out, now is a good time. You could pick up all of the band's proper studio albums for $30. I wish they had these deals when I bought the records. :(

Bartender 09-28-2005 03:36 AM

Over here HMVs seem to tend towards just slashing the prices of individual albums. 2 for £10/3 for £20/etc is usually left to Virgin.

guitarbaz 09-28-2005 03:48 AM

the smiths albums are pretty much all a fiver in HMV over here at the minute.

that sale is bankrupting me, bought 18 cd's in the last 2 weeks. eek.

Bartender 09-28-2005 03:59 AM

I managed to limit myself to three, which is unusually restrained for me. I spent about £75 on eBay at the same time though, so restriction was necessary if I was to have anything to eat.

i wish i had that kind of self control. every time i go in there i just seem to find more cd's that i've always wanted, for a few quid. best one was neil young harvest for 2.99. now thats just an insult to neil but hey, i wasn't gonna miss it.

Bartender 09-28-2005 04:21 AM

Speaking of eBay, Danny Elfman - The Nightmare Before Christmas OST just arrived in the post. I finally have a physical copy of it.

I would so go for it, but I'm starting to hate HMV.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 09-29-2005 02:21 AM

I bought...
Sigur Ros - Takk...
The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute

I wanted a lot more, especially since Sufjan Stevens - Illinois, The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots and My Bloody Valentine - Loveless, since they were REALLY cheap.

The Go! Team - Thunder Lightning Strike used to be really cheap too, but they raised the price again before I got a chance to buy it cheap.

Deth 09-29-2005 06:57 AM

Dredg - Catch Without Arms
Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
Between The Buried and Me - The Silent Circus
Opeth - Ghost Reveries

I bought these today:

Camel - Music Inspired By The Snow Goose
