About

Formed in 1994 in Montreal Quebec, The Planet Smashers emerged as one of the foremost Ska Revival bands in the Ska scene. They released their first self-titled record in 1996, followed by the “Inflate to 45 RPM” EP with “Stomp” records. “Attack of The Planet Smashers” which reached #2 on the national college radio charts for 2 months straight, was released in 1998 followed by “Life of The Party” a year later, which led The Planet Smashers to winning the Montreal Independent Music Award for best Ska band; this quickly drew attention from major labels, bands, publishers and booking agents all over the world. They were quickly gaining momentum, and had gained the nickname “Kings of Ska”. By then the Planet Smashers had built a respectable following throughout North America. The Planet Smashers remained consistently popular, touring throughout Canada and South America. The Planet Smashers next album, “Life of The Party” took the continent by storm, aided by the commercialization of Ska by such bands as "The Mighty Mighty Bosstones" and "No Doubt". "Life Of The Party" was followed by “No Self Control” in 1998, “Fabricated” in 2002, and “Mighty” in 2004. All of the Planet Smashers records but their first album "Meet The Planet Smashers" have been released with “Stomp" Records, which is owned by Singer/Guitarist Matt Collyer.

In terms of touring, not many Canadian Ska bands come close. They have headlined countless tours in North America, 3 European tours, been included on 3 Vans Warped Tour as well as a Japanese tour in 2002. They have toured with such acts as AFI, GOB, Satanic Surfers, Sick of it All, Death By Stereo, Mustard Plug, Samiam and countless others.
