Yeah man, generic but good.

SET ME FREEEEEEE
lol such a blatant aild ripoff I actually liked them |
their lead singer played guitar in AILD for a bit actually back in the day
|
The new As Cities Burn is ****ing GOOD.
|
good to hear. i listened to their other albums tday for preparation. need to get it
|
The one guitar part in '84 Sheepdog is like the bastard son of the one lead in This Is It, This Is It.
It seriously just makes me go, "LOL Cody is out of ideas." Which isn't really true at all, but it sounds like it there. |
it's hard to write stuff that doesn't sound similar to other things you wrote sometimes
|
Destroy The Runner anyone?
biggest rip off of AILD ever anyone? They can be fun sometimes but one of the more generic bands. |
i agree to a point, they are a fun listen tho

Christian Rock & Metal
So there has been an explotion of christian metal and hardcore. Is it right? Is it wrong? WTF! Why are these two things mixed. I personally feel that it is absolutley contradictory, but on the other hand if it sounds good I will listen to it. A few bands have been at it a while (As I Lay Dying, Comeback Kid, Underoath) but then came The Devil Wears Prada. It seems they have made a call that only christians can hear to start metal or hardcore bands. Are you an advocate or a hater?
|
I'm an advochater.
|
I think a good 90% of it is lame. Making a huge point to seperate yourself into a religious sect of music is stupid. Even Orthodox Black Metal doesn't appeal to me much for that reason.
|
Yeah sh*t is good or it's bad. For the most part it doesn't matter what religion or lack thereof is involved.
|
Yeah it just seems like Christian music always just cashes in on what is making money at the time. You don't see many ORIGINAL sounding christian bands.
|
Cant really argue with the second part there, but I dunno that they're trying to cash in. I guess Christians are usually followers by nature so that's how it works out.
|
What I find funny is that a lot of atheists have dug Christian bands, without even knowing the band's beliefs. I think it just depends on the music, whether you're talking about God, fantasy creatures, heartbreak whatever....I tend to feel that whatever belief a band has shouldn't classify them, or put them into some kind of sub-genre other than what TYPE of music they're trying to play.
The music itself can be sweet despite views. I find like with Underoath they don't talk too much about their beliefs via their music, just because they're Christian people doesn't make the band "Christian music". Same could be said for other 'sub-genres'. |

underoath is all over religion wtf are you talking about
they try to convert at just about every show |
I've seen Becoming the Archetype live, they came to my home town. They're better live than studio actually. I have a lot of respect for them, and they're cool guys too.
|
ducky was one of the coolest guys
|
Yeah he is, and the drummer is pretty awesome. They're so cool, like instead of preaching they just play and hang out. The only thing christian about them is the lyrics. They came here again last saturday but I couldn't make it :(

other than the fact they are practicing christians... |
other than the fact they are practicing christians...
What I meant was that they don't beat you in the head with a cross like a lot of christians. It's just nice to see christians from the south (they are from the south) that are that chill. |
Yeah they're definitely one of my favorite Christian bands.
|
Why do you find that funny?
God my father, you are the only one that can give me comfort You touch my heart in such a way that all I can do is cry your name Jesus Christ I love you My heart aches for your love
I'm just saying that if someone's just getting into a band, they may not know it's Christian. I used Underoath as an example because they do a lot of subtle things. ie. Russian bible passages. They may push out their beliefs, but to an atheist who has no exposure to religon it appears as if they're just singing about life and its trepidations or what not. A lot of Christian bands, unless you really listen and analyze their lyrics or research the band, are discreet about their beliefs at a first listen to an unsuspecting atheist. *shrugs* Either way, August Burns Red rules! (Constellations) |
all of abr rules tbh
