What 5 albums do you think give the most complete view of hip hop?
Hi all,
If someone had never heard any hip hop before and you had to try to explain it to them using only 5 albums, which ones would you choose? (and no adding extras, stick to just 5) Explain your choices too if you can. |

Any 5 KRS-One or Boogie Down Production albums
|
KRS-One is by far the best emcee of all time, this isn't just my opinion its the opinion of most people who take it more seriously than just some music that sounds cool. If you want the history of Hip Hop there is no better place to learn and be entertained than KRS-One, maybe try the CD Edutainment. He has made over 20 CD's and not a single one is wack, he left the mainstream as soon as rap went down hill in the late 90's. He revolutionized rap and layed the blueprint for essentially every act today, while remaining in the background, teaching the history and organizing Hip Hop into a community while also continuing to create the most original music the genre has ever seen.
My favorite 5 CD's are KRS-One Return of the Boom Bap Edutainment Godsville Meta-Historical |
